Butterfly season is here. We have beautiful yellow butterflies coming to the back yard flowers and I thought this would add food for the butterflies. I put the feeder on the pole this morning around 7am and at 1:30pm we have 30-40 bees swarming around the feeder, and no butterflies. No going to our backyard deck until the feeder comes down. Tonight we will remove the feeder and hopefully the bees will move on. Do not recommend.

I like that this feeder was designed by scientists who study butterflies. It is very clever. A bit difficult to figure out how to put together the first time, but after that, a snap. I only wish I knew if it worked. I have a butterfly visit daily (it has not drawn any new ones) and he is not fooled - he only inspects the real flowers. The wasps and bees will drink from it and the flies love the bananas. (Yes, you can put over-ripe bananas on it.)My only complaint is that the quality of the red plastic is very poor, It fades very easily in the sun and looses it's appeal. It's also a fair amount of work to clean it and only fresh feed can be used in it.
