I've owned a 3d scanner previously by a well know brand, it was cheaper then this one and required sticking marker dots on the item that I wanted to scan. This one works completely different and works via a blue light technology (not ideal if you suffer from photo sensitive epilepsy) the light flashes over the object you wish to scan and the quality compared to my other scanner is next lvl, I can't believe the quality and detail it picks up yes the price is steep but you do get a good quality scan The actual scanner is small in size and is lightweight in comparison to my other scanner.This isn't a entry level scanner and will take some time getting used to it. The software was the hardest part to download for me as the instructions are not what I'd expect from such a quality item and company (ie it would of been useful to have a link to a tutorial video)The software is pretty good and allows you to do alot with a scanned image.What do you get in the box? Not a lot for the price tag.Scanner, power and data cable, plug wrist strap and a locking not for a tripod/mount. (No tripod unless you pay alot more)The box is a good quality cardboard but I would suggest getting a hard case to store the scanner in as these are fragile pieces of equipment.Highly recommend this if your into 3d printing great piece of kit

I usually was scanning models with the phone, which is alright on the best case but the quality is often not good.With this scanner is a completely different level. The scans have such a great quality and details, there's just no way to be so accurate with a phone.I would say it's perhaps a bit too expensive for non professional use, but when model quality matters, this is the scanner to use.The software isn't the easiest to use, but all pro software is always a bit complicated, so you get used after a while.Overall I think it's a decent deal for the price, but I would like to see improvements in the software.

Windows 10 or 11 or Mac OS 12 / 13 / 14 and has an adequate processor and RAM.No markers are required to be put on the object you’re scanning and the scanner has anti-shake technology.You can hold the scanner with your hand and manually move it around your object or you can purchase a turntable and select table scan in the provided software. When using a turntable, the software will pause when a full rotation has been recorded to avoid overlapping.Being provided with a tripod and a turntable would certainly improve the user experience but you need to purchase those separately.The scanner looks and feels like an impressive piece of kit. It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold.As a beginner it takes practice to get the scans right. Don’t expect it to be perfect straight away. The software is also something that takes time to navigate.Reflective surfaces can be problematic for the scanner. Its struggles to scan hair / fur too.It’s not perfect but it is good.

I have found installation deeply problematic and frustrating. I downloaded the JMStudio app to my iPhone and created an account. (There was the option of continuing as a guest but that didn't allow me to link with a scanner.) Having created my account, a message popped up saying that I needed to connect to the scanner through my desktop. I run a Mac. On the website, the most recent software version (presented in what looks like Polish) is OS13 and a full year old, I'm running 14 but that didn't seem to be a biggie. Then it hit a snag where it wanted to change my Mac's script, I was uncomfortable with this so didn't proceed. I tried the app again, but that literally is stuck on a screen which tells me I need to link my scanner via my laptop. I'm a bit stuck in this loop of non-functionality. It all feels a bit half baked.Otherwise, it looks a decent piece of kit. You need to keep it plugged in to use it, it isn't rechargeable. There is no tripod, which I think is unacceptable at this price. I can't yet go any further, but I will carry on trying.

I received this product through the Amazon Vine programme and this review is based on my own opinions.I wanted to try this scanner with a friend who does animation at Uni and wanted to import scans for a project. The scanner arrived well packed with some pretty good instructions although I was surprised at the price point £699 that no stand was included. This is a very good scanner with better depth than cheaper ones I have tried and I liked the fact that markers weren't required on the object being scanned. As the scanner is mains powered you do need to take account of using this with a mains flex but that wasn't really problematic. The wrist support worked quite well for handsfree use and the anti-shake seemed good too It helps that the scanner itself is quite lightweight. The software was a bit of a pain to load but finally got some scans into my Mac M1. My friend was very happy with the quality of the scans and was able to use them in other applications which he uses. Also things worked better on his more powerful Mac so maybe worth looking at the memory as well as processor requirements closely. A premium package that works and provides detailed scans. I notice that the price has now dropped to £629 which is better but I still think this is a bit overpriced and not quite as easy to work with as the product detail implies.
