Clips open wise to clip onto larger chairs. We used them for a vacation in the Caribbean, and they kept our towels on the chairs (despite the trade winds)

Beach Towel Clips for Beach Chair,Heavy-Duty Plastic Clothes Pins, Towel Clips for Beach Chairs Cruise-Keep Your Towel from Blowing Away, Vacation Beach Must Have Bright Colors Beach Chair ClipsThis fit perfectly on our beach chairs and clamping power is sufficient for holding even a thin towel. However, these would benefit from having grip grooves in the areas that come in contact with the towels and blankets like every other small, plastic clamp. The towels more easily slip out with the smooth plastic clamp areas. This a fundamental design flaw in my mind. Material: the short version: they are made of Polypropylene or PP, which is horrible in UV light - breaks down. More below. They are also great for keeping around the backyard and the campground for clamping towels and blankets to canopies,s for sun walls (even in corners), securing nylon walls to each other in the wind, etc.The listing claims: "double-layer two-color design to make your clip more bright, while playing a non-slip role. : this sounds like both layers, different colors, same material: pp+rubbermaterialBut it sounds like the body is made of PP and the insert for clamping is made of some unknown magical "rubbermaterial." PP = Polypropylene=====================This review got a bit longer than expected but as I reviewed the material, it's not a good choice:Let's talk about PP and why - probably a poor choice got beach plastics. According to the experts:"What are the disadvantages of PP plastic?Polypropylene disadvantagesOther recycling or re-conditioning methods must be considered, at a significantly higher cost. This low melting point also means that polypropylene is highly flammable and limited in its ability to withstand higher temperatures and it is also susceptible to UV degradation and oxidation."UV degradation and oxidation." That is not a good thing for something meant for the beach or outside in general. And if stored in attic - just the heat will break down the material. Other brands make all kinds of claims, one says silicone, then switches to say it's PP, then says it's ABS... "This listing does NOT list a material Material in the Product Information area as almost all other listings for this kind of products do but more often than not, they say "plastic" without specifics.Best Outside plastics:Best types" Polycarbonate, TPO, acrylic, and, to some extent, ABS are known for their excellent UV resistance. Very best: "HDPE. High-density polyethylene, or HDPE, is perhaps the most versatile plastic for outdoor use. Many park benches, tables and chairs are now made using HDPE plastic, and playground equipment, in general, is made of HDPE thanks to its sturdiness."One of the worst? PP:" Polypropylene (PP)is sensitive to ultraviolet wavelengths of 290-300, 330 & 370 nm (nanometers). These are considered the spectra maxima of polypropylene. Even though polypropylene has great mechanical strength and is highly chemically resistant, it is not suited for prolonged exposure to sunlight."So, yes, these are inexpensive but they will degrade rather quickly and "shatter eventually from UV damage - as designed.
