This is a clever lock! Just one product to fit Kensington, Nano, and Wedge slots. I only have a Nano to test it with (on my Dell laptop), but the design is clever enough to handle them all.The heart of the design is the jaws that open or close as you turn the knob. When you want to lock, turn the knob to open the jaws until they clamp into the lock - then scramble the wheels. The knob will not turn again until you dial the combination back in. Then you can close the jaws and remove the lock.Now while this is a universal lock, it is meant to be tuned for just one type of lock by fitting a spacer that is specific to that lock type. The spacer makes sure the jaws penetrate to the right depth, and the lock rests against the case (like any other lock). Will it work without the spacer? As far as I can tell, yes. But I've only tested with a Nano lock, so your mileage may vary.The cable is about 1/8" thick (not counting the plastic sheath), which puts it in the medium-security category. You'll need something heavier for more secure applications. But if you don't expect industrial-grade thieves to show up, this will do the job and is light enough to make it easy to move the laptop around while it's locked.

You do get a couple of advantages with this one; the rotating cylinder is a nice convenience, and the fact that this lock is compatible with multiple laptop lock styles, AND that the cable relies on a loop and tuck, meaning you can anchor it almost anywhere.Whether this is worth the extra $10 or so is up to you. I like the heavy guage coated security wire. The coating protects both the cable and the surrounding furniture, as well as the laptop itself.I'm happy with the purchase, but if you're on a tight budget, you might want to look at a different product.

Easily replaced my key-turning laptop lock for our government laptop. The problem with those things bought by the government is buying in bulk and expected to be locked and removed probably less than a dozen times in the life of usage. However, we move rooms often and also telework. Those cheap key turning laptop lock breaks easily as in the key turning mechanism are finicky and faulty. I much prefer combination locks and this almost matched my other PAID COMBINATION LOCK. Not only was this able to fit the original slot where we had to cut off the broken key turning lock, it really remained in place and kept the laptop secured MUCH TO MY SURPRISE. Now for the 2 minor issues:The numbers are not emphasized with a different color like my other paid for combination lock. This will strain your eyes trying to see if you have the correct numbers lined up. Second is the claim of multi-positioning is not really accurate. You can not position it laying down (but where or how often do you come across laptop lock slot holes that are vertical? most of them are horizontal)The laptop lock is very very secure there no matter how hard I twist to see if it would come off - NOPE IT STAYS PUT AND SECURING THE LOCK INTO THE LAPTOP. I really wish they can improve just a tiny bit by emphasizing or coloring making the numbers stand out from the gray/silverish color.I DEFINITELY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AS LONG AS IT STAYS AT OR UNDER $25

I must admit, I should have read the details before ordering. I would have realized that universal didn't literally mean, “universal” as in to fit any and all laptop computers as is implied, rather it works with the laptops that happen to have a lock spot specify ally designed for something like this, and neither of my dell laptops, new nor old have them. Therefore, I cannot review much of rhe product without properly using nm it because it was slightly misleading in the advertising. What I'm can say, however, is rhay it is seemingly well made, durable, and arrives quickly! I suppose I could try to lock it elsewhere on my computer but considering how made it happens to be, and despite the full adjustability, I am worried it would damage the computer itself!

This is a versatile cable lock with adapter spacers making it useful for multiple styles of lock slots. It's easy to change the combination to any four single digits and the cable is long enough to still move a locked device around the desk or picnic table if you are working remotely. Also suitable for locking down a desktop computer to prevent it from walking away during off hours. The soft to the touch vinyl clad cable is thick enough to provide routine security from cutting but light enough to be easily carried in a pocket while coiled up with the included hook and loop strap. A good value at this price point and worthy of five stars for this review.
