Bought to measure the seemingly endless amounts of rain this winter. So simple to use, comes in two pieces, the spike and the container. Pop the spike level in the ground and pop the container into the ring at the top. The measurements on the side are large and easy to read. Haven’t really had it long enough to comment on how well the plastic container will hold up over time but at the price it was, I will be happy with a couple of years.

This rain gauge/collection cup does the job and is quite solid when assembled. The assembly is easy and the top part needs to be pushed in securely or it will move around. The price is very steep for what it is and the possibility it could break outside due to being made from plastic.

I planted a new garden this summer. I check this weekly (noted on calendar). Gardens typically need 34mm of water a week. When the garden doesn’t get enough I know I need to water. When I water where this is situated first, I know how long to leave the sprinkler on to provide the correct about of water, making watering the rest of the garden so much easier (between that and asking Alexa to set a 5, 10, 15 minute timer each time I move the sprinkler).I got sick for much of the most recent two week drought. I wouldn’t have realised we didn’t have a drop of rain for two weeks (I was so out of it). Had I not seen that this was empty once I recovered enough to venture into the garden, I wouldn’t have likely caught on that the plants were struggling due to lack of rain.
