What they want you to believe is hardwood looks very much like, and has the grain pattern of, pine. Dad's t-squares used maple for the wood and had a nice varnish finish which these do not. The one I ordered also came with the plastic wrapper sliced open and a cut mark on the wood. I returned it. I judge the price to be high for the value given.
