The 3m tape dosent stick

The matte black rear spoiler I received was well finished and fit my 23 MY very well. There is a top and a bottom so orient it correctly - I know it sounds stupid but at least one of the review photos showed it upside down and supposedly not fitting.A lot of the reviews indicate other installation problems. So...I think it's important to be meticulous with the installation including cleaning with alcohol and using adhesion promoter - the promoter ONLY where the tape will attach. 3M says to let their adhesion promoter dry 30 to 90 seconds after application and for no more than an hour. I did the same for the stuff provided (which smells the same as 3M).With the spoiler centered in place on my car each end of the spoiler was 6" from the seam between the trunk lid and the fender. Yours should be close to that. Once you have it centered by equalizing that distance on each end using a soft (preferably) measuring tape, check it three times and then hold the spoiler tightly against the car as it will be installed. Put a piece of masking tape near the top center of the spoiler and across onto the trunk lid. Make a pencil or felt tip mark (I put three, but I'm anal) running on and along the tape from the spoiler to the car. Then, still holding the spoiler in its correct position and tightly to the car, carefully slice the tape into two pieces with a sharp knife, one piece left on the car and one on the spoiler. There's a small bridging gap in the tape so you don't have to cut on the car or the spoiler. Now, when you begin the actual installation you can line up the mark(s) and the slice so that you're sure the spoiler is where you want it instead of going back and forth to the ends to check.Peel a couple of inches of the red cover on one end of each of the three pieces of tape. Bend those red pieces so they will stick out under the spoiler when you put it in place. At this point, some of the bare tape is exposed so put the spoiler LIGHTLY and precisely in place on the car with the marks you made and the cut seam lined up exactly. (If you do it LIGHTLY there's a chance you can reposition it if you screw up.But, maybe not, so don't screw up.) From this point on and absent a disaster, do not take the spoiler off the car.Be sure the rest of the spoiler is where you want it and holding it in the center (where the tape is still covered) peel off the red from under one spoiler end - if you're right handed it's easiest to start with the right end - slipping it out from under the in-place spoiler as you peel. LIGHTLY settle the bare tape end in its correct place against the car. Make sure the marked lines and the cut seam are still lined up and the spoiler is as you want it.Now, some instructions say to do the same thing on the other end and then go to the center. I debated whether to do that or to peel the center section of tape and place it before doing the end. I favor doing the center first as that way there is less chance of a gap in the center from the ends being placed too close together. Either way, peel the red as before, lifting the spoiler slightly if necessary to get the it out from under. Push the spoiler perfectly in place LIGHTLY as you peel along. Then do the remaining piece.Checking one last time for proper fit, press the spoiler firmly against the car. It's pressure sensitive tape!!! Rub it. Now, use masking tape to TIGHTLY hold the spoiler in place against the car at several locations along its length. Importantly, use tape on each end as that's the likeliest place for a problem. Leave the tape on as long as you can, at least overnight and longer is better. Peel the tape off carefully and WaaaLaaa.

The adhesive is not 3M quality adhesive. I installed my spoiler following the poorly detailed instructions and 2 weeks later after my detailed finished washing my car he pointed out the spoiler was coming apart from the body of the car. A couple of days after that I pulled it off myself….Now im shopping around for 3M adhesive so I can try to stick it again…

UPDATE: The seller has been very responsive and communicative regarding this issue. Hopefully we will find a solution soon. The preinstalled adhesive tape is not adequate. I do not understand why most of these products suffer from the same problem. Just add quality tape and charge a little more! The actuall spoiler is of decent quality for the price. You still get what you pay for as you will easily find rough edges and small imperfections. However, for this price, I would still keep it if the thing would stay on.For the record, I followed the recommended instructions step by step and took my time installing it. I still have to decide if I should return it or try again with my own (real) 3M automotive tape.

Put this on my new Tesla Y. Bought the flat black version. Practically identical to factory option. Install was easy but one note: some mold flash could have interfered with full adhesion. Very simple to cut off with a sharp knife. Blue tape was temporary.
