I know the bottle used in the photo didn't have a cork screw but it demonstrates size. I didn't get to photograph the bottle with the cork removed.I got this electric corkscrew, because I love gadgets, and thought this would do the job while also looking quite cool.Firstly, it's massive. Does it really need to be the size of a bottle of wine! Secondly the sound of the motor is a little bit louder than I would expect, for something at this price, and it doesn't sound great. It does look nice, shiny and impressive and will no doubt get questions when you bring this out with a bottle of wine.The description says 'simple one touch activation' and suggests it is a one hand operation. You actually have to hold the bottom button down until it's driven into the cork and pulls it out, then hold the top button up, until it drops the cork. You have to press the cork screw down with one hand, while holding the bottle with the other. It's not as easy as suggested. Not quite a one handed operation.The description also says batteries not included, but a set did come with mine. Regarding 'gift boxing' I would say it's a straight forward box; nothing fancy. It's just the box it comes in and not really gift boxed.Although it does the job, it's way too big. For the price, I expected better packaging, a machine that was less intimidating, quieter and more automatic.

This is an ideal corkscrew for the wine lover (cheaper wine is screw capped these days) who is also a gadget lover. What you get is a large metal & plastic corkscrew that takes 4 batteries (included despite what the box says). My first thought was that it wasn't the highest quality but after using it for a while, it does seem to be well built.Using it takes a little getting used to and can only be done single handed if you have a stronger arm as you need to hold the corkscrew down on the cork until it takes. I have found that as long as the cork is real and not one of the new synthetic corks, it works really well. With synthetic corks I found it can oddly rip the cork (I was expecting the opposite if a cork ripped).Another thing that is unusual is the size of the corkscrew - it is nearly the size of a bottle of wine. I wasn't expecting this, but it does make it easier to use in the end.Overall, an ideal gift (or just for yourself) for the serious wine drinking gadget lover.
