Great product. Very constructive for kids and super nice for parents to help and be involved.

My kids have always loved to create things out of cardboard boxes, but their smaller hands often created limitations that they found to be very frustrating. It's hard enough to me and my adult-sized hands to cut through cardboard with a pair of scissors, and while I could help them out with the tougher shapes using a box knife, they still didn't like having to stop in the middle of what they were working on to come find me for help, and I certainly don't have time to be interrupted so often when they're deep in the works of some major creation. The BeaverBot cardboard cutter has been super helpful in providing them with the independence to do what they want, and without the risk that comes with using the sharper tools. The instructions were simple, and it was pretty easy for all of us to get the hang of operating it (my kids are 13 and 10). Some other reviewers mentioned that it could only cut through certain thicknesses of cardboard boxes, and that even the Amazon boxes were too thick to use, however, we did not have that experience, and while I'm sure there's a limit as to how much the BeaverBot can handle, the majority of what my kids have been using for their projects has been delivery boxes from Amazon. I think the machine cuts at a good speed. If you just want to zip through cardboard in straight lines, then I imagine it would move a little slow for that, but it actually moves at a good pace for cutting out more complex shapes and curves etc. while maintaining control. It leaves a relatively neat edge, though it is a bit more "chewed up" in appearance compared to using scissors or a box cutter, and it most often doesn't bother my kids at all. There is one thing lacking in the design, and that is that there's no way to start in the middle of a piece of cardboard to carve out a hole or a window etc., which is unfortunately something my kids often need to do. There needs to be a starting point of some sort that's at least big enough to fit the cutter head through, so there is still some stabbing and uncomfortable cutting with scissors to create that opening in order to cut out the rest with the bot.So far, the bot has been running nicely, and we haven't had any issues, so I hope that it will last us a long time, and although it has been a really neat tool for my kids to use and explore, the price for it seems pretty unrealistic for most families to be willing or able to spend.
