My partner recently took a class in book making and has started to do more with the craft. I saw this binding cradle and thought it would be a great addition to her tools. The cradle is very well made out of some beautiful beech wood and the kit comes with everything you need to switch up leaflets when binding a book. This is one of those simple yet effective tools that makes a cumbersome process so much easier and more precise. Just stack the folded pages into the jig, place the top block on and pierce the holes right in the crease, quickly, cleanly and evenly. I did notice that once you start piercing the holes it's best to pay close attention until you are done to insure you don't miss a hole. The whole process only takes a minute, but without any fumbling trying to keep the pages aligned or taking a chance of accidentally stabbing yourself. I know that this is a tool she is going to be very please to have in her studio.

Cuts are clean, there are no splintered edges on the book binding cradle. This will keep me from making a template each time. One foot did fall off in the packaging, but that won't affect its performance.

The best thing I love about this is how it has little grips on the bottom of the box so that the box does not slide or move while you are in the process of using it. This is a much safer way to stab the holes into the paper compared to what I was doing: holding the paper up in the air or stabbing down onto a table top. This is really a convenient tool for book binding. The price is low enough that someone who only occasionally does DIY book binding can afford this. It makes the prices so much easier.

I have always wanted to learn how to bind books, the gluing process is not very long lasting, and I was so happy to see this available.This kit has 7 different size and style of needles, two colors of thread, an awl , and a thimble to accompany the Wood Binding Cradle.I really wished there was an instruction manual as I do not know the first thing on how to bind books, well, I tried it once when I was a teen. I still wanted a book to go with it so I can study. I would not be binding my book(s) in front of my computer, ergo why I want a book. Guess I have to buy me a proper book.The wood is a very good and strong. I recommend this for the lover of books and how to bind them.
