I bought the 10m version on a punt for a PTZ camera with LEDs. This is purely passive and is like a huge extension lead for the power supply using some of the ethernet conductors. As such, the data is limited to 100MBps - but that's usually fine (you wont get 1Gbps on it). My particular camera is rated at 12V 1A, and it runs just fine if it's just sat there, but as soon as you ask it to move around, it started to crash or misbehave and if the LEDs were on while moving, it would just crash and restart. From some measurements, when it was pulling more than 0.6A, my camera was failing to operate. Of course, your mileage may vary - other kit may be more tolerant etc. This is ultimately down to the fact that as your device draws more A's, the V's drop over longer and longer lengths of cable and eventually things become sensitive to that.I did know this was a possibility when I bought it, but for the price I thought it was worth a try. The cable itself and the plugs and split points are all decent quality and it otherwise does the job well for low powered kit - hence I still award it 3 stars. I would still recommend this if you have a static camera that doesn't move, or if you are trying to run something lower powered or distances are shorter. Of course longer lengths or higher powered kit will likely be worse/more sensitive. For me, I went back to a "normal" ethernet cable and bought a 48V PoE (Power over Ethernet) power supply injector instead of my camera's original power supply, and an active 12V PoE splitter for the camera. This puts 48V down the cable (any normal cable) and generates 12V at the camera and so the voltage drop issue is eliminated. Obviously, you need to check the voltage, power socket type and current ratings are all good for your device. I should point out, this arrangement will not work with one of these split cables (it needs a normal ethernet cable) - so for me this particular product has gone in a box for a less fussy device in the future.

Had this cable fitted and in use...was working fine. Today I decided to hide the cabling that was temporarily hanging from side of house using 16mm trunking. Had to tug just a few more inches through a grommet to ensure cable wasn't tight in the trunking....now non functioning IP Camera. Need to replace cable again - guessing price = quality
