Die Hobby-Astronomie findet häufig fern von Stromquellen statt. Denn schließlich sind wir stets auf der Suche nach Nächten ohne Lichtverschmutzung, und das bedeutet, dass wir fern vom Stromnetz sind. In diesen Situationen werden Teleskope häufig mit einem tragbaren 12 V Akkupack wie dem Celestron PowerTank oder anhand des Zigarettenanzünders über die Autobatterie betrieben.
Der Celestron Autobatterie-Adapter ist das Zubehör, mit dem Sie alle computergesteuerten Teleskope von Celestron an eine Gleichstromquelle oder Autobatterie anschließen können. Schließen Sie den runden Stecker in die 12 V Eingangsbuchse unten an Ihrem Teleskop* und den Leistungsstecker in den Zigarettenanzünder in einem Auto oder an Ihrer Stromversorgung an. Das Kabel ist 7,50 m lang, damit Sie viel Reichweite zwischen Ihrem Teleskop und der 12 V Stromquelle haben.
Der Fassanschluss kann mit allen Teleskopen mit Steckerbuchse und einem Außendurchmesser von 5,5 mm und einem Innendurchmesser von 2,1 mm und einer positiven Polarität verwendet werden.
*Für die folgende Teleskope geeignet:
(NexStar SLT-Serie, NexStar GT-Serie, CGEM-Serie, CPC-Serie, CPC Deluxe-Serie und die Advanced VX-Serie)

Had bought a spurious one off eBay before and it just didn’t work. May have been a fuse or a damaged but if cable but it wasn’t worth fixing. Got this one and it worked perfectly with my car battery charger from Halfords which is a lot cheaper than the power tank. All works perfectly. Would highly recommend

My first use of the telescope was with 8 AA Nimh batteries which needed deep recharge after a couple of hours of use. Fumbling job replacing two 4-battery battery modules by the light of a dim red headlamp with black-cased AA cells and cold fingers. Don't recommend it. Was a great motivator to finding 'a better way'.The car batter adapter worked perfectly with the first use. Unfortunately, when the azimuth drive decided 350 degree rotations were the most efficient way to find the requested celestial objects of interest, I soon found the cord wrapped a couple of times around the telescope mount. Finally had to unplug (and therefore needed to realign) the telescope. Lesson learned.On the plus side, it provided all the power I needed for extensive viewing sessions with little noticeable drain on the 12-volt heavy duty power pack battery booster. The cord is long enough to set up in a parking lot and use the car's accessory outlet for power. I didn't notice any difference in performance between AA batteries [high-drain capable; normally use these for photo flash applications] and the much larger lead-acid cells. Connectors and cord are quality parts. This accessory will last many years.
