The first time I tried this was to scribe a line down the centre of a 19mm wide aluminium bar. The scribed line was surprisingly clear given the obtuse point on the scriber but the operation was awkward and the line was far from straight - maybe because the device was rocking slightly on the scriber point as I ran it up the aluminium bar. There were no instructions as if people are expected to know how to use it but in future, I will try using it with as little of the scribe point exposed as possible.
