These filters may work too well for our system. The airflow is restricted enough that the air intake was noticibly loud to the point of being distracting. The caught plenty of dust and cat hair but made me worry that they were too taxing on our HVAC unit.

I bought these for a downdraft table that I built. I was using some real cheap filters originally, but these are much heavier so I’m sure they will do a better job in stopping the dust and fumes from using my plasma torch. I also use the table for spray painting and with the cheap filters the paint has got past the filter and onto the fan blades. These are thick enough to catch the paint better and keep my lungs and shop cleaner. Price wise, way more expensive than the cheap ones, but you get what you pay for, and I feel these are worth it

These fit our return vent well and seem like they will function well as a filter. However, they are the loudest filters I have every used. Once I installed these I noticed a humming/whistling coming from my return. I am not sure if this is due to the thick cardboard lip around the filter catching the air?? Or that these are much more rigid than the cheap filters, meaning that air is escaping around the edges of the filter? I am just guessing. I did not see any other reviews mentioning noise, so perhaps it is just a flaw with the filters we received, or not a good fit for our register (although the fit looks good). After a week, I couldn't take it anymore and just replaced these back with our cheap ones from the big box store.

These filters work as expected for me. I measured the width and height of the filter at 19.5", which is consistent with the product description. The popular brand I've been using are 19.75" width and height. From a quick look through several 20x20x1 filters of different brands available on Amazon, I noticed a range of 19.5" to 19.88" actual size in the respective descriptions, so this is on the smaller side of the range. However, these are a better fit for me in my air return vents.This product has more folds in the filter than the other brand I've been using (see photo), but I don't know the significance of that. The other brand is rated at 3 months and this product says to replace every 60 or 90 days.This product is a few dollars more expensive than the brand and type of filter I've been using.This product seems sufficiently sturdy.

Value for the money for sure. However, compared to the name brands, I'm noticing that there appears to be a lot of unnecessary thickness to the cardboard around the edges and the diagonal supports. To mean, it would seem that it would restrict airflow. I don't notice any difference in noise or airflow, but I don't know that I will buy these again.
