Total schlecht bearbeitet.

I sold my hand forged Japanese katana after buying this machete. It is balanced like a sword, just about 2 inches in front of the tsuba. The blade is 4 inches shorter than a katana, but 4 inches longer than a wakizashi, making it a perfect little ninja-to. The blade is machete style, being an even thickness with extra width compared to a katana, and extremely thin. It has a deeper curve than a katana in order to make up for the non dynamic blade profile, and cuts through 6" green bamboo like butter. In a durability test, it cut the blade of a 300 dollar folded katana without suffering any damage. Most cold steel machetes I have used had highly subpar handles and lacked a full tang, but this one is made to last. The grip is aggressive, but you'll appreciate the depth of the plastic if your hands aren't like a baby's. I can chop wood and do camp chores all day without a single false strike thanks to the deep grip. This is my new go-to tool for my bug out bag, replacing my much heavier khukri. From the factory, the blade was functionally sharp and unburred, but the bevel was not even. I ran it through a sharpening system and shaved with it. The sheath is a joke. It's difficult to wear and draw from. I made a new one using 3" pvc pipe and a heat gun, simply warming up the pipe, inserting the blade, and forming the pipe somewhat tightly. The best sword you can buy for under a thousand dollars.

Although it's not the same as some of the more "traditional" budget-grade katanas that I have, I like it and I'm sure it will be a great cutter once warmer weather comes around and I can properly test it.Pros:-Great 1055 carbon steel blade that is reasonably thick-Traditional feeling grip that feels like it will never come off (since it is injection molded onto the tang and not just glued on)-So far I have cut 1" wooden dowels as well as some water filled jugs with this item. As I said before, it's not the "traditional" katana and if you want cleaner/smoother cuts with it you're going to need to reshape and then fully sharpen the edge of this thing. What I mean by "properly testing it when the weather warms up" is trying to use it to cut tatami mats and rolled newspapers.Cons:-None. Buy this katana machete. It's great and you won't regret it.

Been wanting this machete for awhile. Damn am I impressed! Razor sharp, great sheath. In fact it's the first sheath I saw that has an adjustable clamping strap. Not a D ring but a clamp.Definately worth the money.Razor sharpLight in the handWell balancedGreat steelThink I'm gonna have to get another one.

finally took it out and brushed one of my trails. Works pretty good but needs a little better edge when i get to it. Great for branches up to about 3/4" but you have to use a bit of muscle and be aware of the sweet spot on the blade. About 6" from the tip is excellent. I would buy it again, but my pruners with extendable handles are best for near ground cutting. Machete is good from above head to about mid thigh height for optimum use. This is my view for this product, but everyone is different and using it in different manners. It was nice to be further away from branches, as some time with shorter brushing tools you get swatted in the face. I think i will try one of the others as well in the future.

A pretty typical Cold Steel offering, Pretty much the version 3 of the other 2 handed Katana Machetes, Like the other Machetes made in South Africa the edge is rough but the tip (Kissaki) is extremely sharp, The handle (Tsuka), Handle wrap (Tsuka-Ito) and Pommel (Kashira) are all one part made of polypropylene again very typical for Cold Steel, It's full tang and will likely stand up extremely well to abuse, The guard (Tsuba) is made out of what I believe is aluminum or another alloy, The finish overall is rough but expected, I think they could probably lower the price on this offering closer to the other machete swords.Of course like most people testing out a new blade your have to try it out on the packaging, It cut the plastic it came in fairly well as expected, It cut the box fairly well but out of the box it wasn't fully up to the cutting the box cleanly in half but I managed to cut it 2/3rds of the way.The handle felt better than the other reviewer made it out to be in my opinion but I didn't extensively cut with it, The sheath is well made with no problems like the blade poking through the sheath, The Sheath does not lend itself to Iado strikes but I doubt it was ever conceived to be fastly drawn but it would work well against shrubbery, plastic bottles or an occasional zombie invader, The sheath comes with a strap so you can carry it like a regular mall ninja but don't expect to be able to draw it quickly especially not when the blade is clasped shut. While it's not perfect I will still give it 5 stars for being another fun offering from Cold Steel, It's a great item for casual backyard cutting, Collecting and most certainly for self defense.
