I just needed the pen because my black one ran out of ink and wouldn't work anymore. It's authentic and legit, and it is always nice to have an extra adapter around just in case

Product itself is great but didn't fit my machine Explore Air 2. My mistake though, thought it would be the same.

This adaptor fitted my explore one machine and allowed me to use the scoring head I had purchased separately. I have not yet used the pen for the writing feature.
