Yes, it is strange how waffle irons work in original mode - temperature is not possible to regulate.Not very good system in my opinion.We also burned some waffles because not all doughs are suitable for 200°C.I got frustrated and decided to do something…I cut off the small part of cast iron (see photo) which activates the waffle mode in DeLonghi multigrill. After that the waffle irons work as they should work!! I can now regulate upper/lower temperature in grill and have gorgeous waffles. :))Note: this is just my solution - everyone makes these modifications with his own risk!

Buying the "larger" multi grill with the waffle iron included vs buying the waffle iron later. We didn't think we would need the waffle irons, but then did either way. It is way too expensive to buy additional irons for this multi grill!The product itself, very nice. Works as expected and we are happy about the product.What surprised and annoyed me was that the temperature control on the multi grill is deactivated when the waffle irons are inserted. I don't recall to have read that anywhere. I would like to control the temperature, as I'm not always satisfied with the predefined waffle temperature, depending on the batter/food I want to waffle.All in all a great product, but be aware about the temperature detail.
