Bought the basic model. Comes well packaged. Took a few goes to get going but I invested in proper firefighting bits off Amazon and it works a treat. Once lit even damp twigs soon catch light and it roars up the middle to heat the water. Practical outdoors fun. Read instructions carefully especially regarding the use of the handle. The whistle (replaces the old stopper) works brilliantly.

After receiving my Trekker during the week, we went out into the local woods and tried it out. Great piece of kit, did exactly what I wanted, a brew for 2 in a very short space of time. I wanted the smaller trekker, as I have the Base Camp model, which for just 2 of us can be a bit bulky, but with the Grandkids with us too, it works.I also wanted to buy the separate hobo stove for the trekker, but can't find it as a stand alone item to buy on Amazon unlike the hobo stove we have just bought for our Base Camp model, which is advertised and can be bought as a stand alone item. Also, I wanted the new green whistling bung to replace the cork one on our Base Camp model, especially if we have the Grandkids with us, as a replacement safety upgrade, but couldn't find that as a standalone upgrade item to buy either on Amazon.

Ich habe viele Techniken um Wasser war zu machen aber diese hier ist definitv die Schnellste! Brikenrinde als Zunder, kleine Holzstücke und 0,6 Liter kochen in knapp 4,5 Minuten!

Hatte den Kelley Kettle eine Zeit lang bei meinen mehrtägigen Treks dabei, wo ich ihn ausführlich testen konnte!PRO:+ Wie bereits in der Überschrift erwähnt ist der Kelly Kettle speziell fürs Wasser kochen extrem gut geeignet. Habe bis jetzt mit keinem anderen Produkt dieser Art so schnell Wasser zum Kochen gebracht, was natürlich vor allem an der Konstruktion liegt! Dadurch, dass der Wasserbehälter rund um den Schlot verläuft wird das Wasser auf einer relativ großen Fläche erhitzt, wodurch er eben für diesen Einsatzzweck prädestiniert ist. Wem es also hauptsächlich darauf ankommt, möglichst schnell größere Mengen an Wasser zu kochen, der wird mit dem Kelly Kettle sicher zufrieden sein!+ Der Kettle ist des weiteren auch gut geeignet, wenn man Fertiggerichte aus der Dose kochen bzw. "Packlsuppn" machen möchte!+ Anders als beim Hobokocher oder Holzvergaser freut sich der Kelly Kettle über Wind beim Einsatz, denn dadurch wird das Feuer nur noch mehr angefacht, wohingegen bei zuvor genannten die Leistung stark abnimmt! Das ist meiner Meinung nach einer der großen Vorteile dieses Systems!+ Wenn der Kettle schon auf der Feuerschale steht kann man durch den Schlot auch ohne Probleme größere Holzstücke nachlegen. Ich empfinde es generell als sehr komfortabel die Feuerschale von oben zu befüllen.+ Aufgestellt kann der Kettle laut Hersteller im Rucksack auch als Wasserbehälter genutzt werden.CONTRA:- Das Gewicht von 1,04 kg und das nicht gerade kompakte Packmaß!- Sobald man irgendwelche größeren Kochvorhaben umsetzen will wie z.B. Fisch oder Fleisch zu braten ist man wegen der Größe des Rosts bzw. der "Pfanne" ziemlich arm dran! Man müsste das Bratgut vorher in wirklich sehr kleine Stücke schneiden.- Auf dem Schlot zu kochen ist nicht sehr praktikabel, denn laut Hersteller muss währenddessen immer Wasser im Kessel sein, da sonst recht schnell die Innenwand anfängt zu schmelzen! Das Wasser verdampft allerdings extrem schnell und wenn man generell wenig Wasser zur Verfügung hat, ist das pure Verschwendung. Außerdem kommt am Schlot einfach viel zu wenig Hitze an und es dauert ewig bis da mal was warm wird. Da ist man besser dran, wenn man den Topf gleich auf den Rost stellt!- Sehr starke Rauchentwicklung und demnach nicht besonders unauffällig.FAZIT: Wenn Packmaß und Gewicht keine Rolle spielen und hauptsächlich SCHNELL Wasser gekocht und Fertiggerichte aufgewärmt werden sollen, ist der Kelly Kettle sicher eine gute Wahl! Allen die auf kleines Gewicht und Packmaß großen Wert legen und kein Problem damit haben wenn das Wasser mal 5 min länger braucht bis es kocht, denen kann ich nur vom Kauf abraten, denn dafür gibt es weit bessere Alternativen auf dem Markt! Siehe Picogrill (nicht auf Amazon), Solo Stove, Lixada Hobo/Holzgaskocher etc....

Hab mir das Set bestellt, um in den Bergen nicht so sehr von Gas abhängig zu sein. Funktioniert spitzenklasse mit allem möglichen, was ich so im Wald gefunden habe. Sobald in der unteren Schale ein sicheres Feuer brennt, dauert das Aufkochen von 0,5 Litern Wasser ca. anderthalb Minuten - bei minderwertigem Brennmaterial ca. drei.Der Kochaufsatz funktioniert super, wenn man sehr trockenes, wenig rauchendes Brennmaterial verwendet, und das Feuer so richtig vollgas anheizt.Werde den Kelly Kettle meinen Freunden weiterempfehlen!
