I have had this item on my to get list for a while now and am delighted that I finally got to get it. There is a learning curve with this, but it's a small one. This makes great rice. Get it you will not be disappointed.

I purchased this pot as a gift to myself for Christmas. I have been using a Staub 1.5 qt cast iron pot for years for making rice. It has worked well, but the very bottom of the rice was always a little stiff. I had looked at the Le Creuset rice pot, but this was cost restrictive for me. I then found the Emile Henry rice pot for about half the price and decided to give it a try. Glad I did as it works wonderfully for me. I use 2 cups of long grain rice and wash it about 3 times (water nearly clear). I then put the rice and 2 2/3 cups water in the pot and let it soak for 30 minutes. I then start the flame on low and turn it up until it starts to boil. I put the inner cover on and then the lid. I let it cook for 15 minutes and then turn the flame off and move the pot leaving it to finish undisturbed for another 10 minutes. I open the pot, fluff the rice and serve. I have used it twice since purchase and each time the rice was perfect. I am near sea level...if your at higher altitude the temp might be lower when it starts to boil.
