I have a keyboard from this brand that I really enjoy. So I bought this thinking I'd enjoy it as well. I don't. It works fine. When I opened the box I pulled the protective sticker off the little screen and the entire screen came off with it. So the build quality is crappy. I popped the screen back in and ignored it because I wasn't planning on using the screen anyway. The screen does still work but it was a bad first impression. When I turned it on the first time, there was a loud beep, then loud beeps on every button push. Ok so I check the instructions and turn the beeps off. Everything's fine. But then the next time I turn my computer on IT BEEPS AGAIN. And it will do that every single time. It's a small thing but it's so irritating that I just cannot any longer.

I love this numpad! The dual functionality as a calculator and the hot-swappable design make it incredibly versatile. The build quality is excellent, and the sound-dampening materials provide a premium typing experience.

Was really excited about this calculator as I had seen a similar one but without the ability to use it as a numpad. I liked that this calc featured that as well as having BT connectivity so I could use it wirelessly. Right out of the box, the key caps and switches sound really good and thocky! Even better than some keebs I’ve had. However, upon turning it on is when the disappointment started. Here are a few gripes:- Annoyingly loud beep with each key press! Who thought that this would be a good idea? While you can disable the beeps, it comes back every time you turn the calc back on. “Just keep it on” you say? The prob with that is you must shut it off in order to use it as a numpad in PC mode (not to mention this adds unnecessary drain on the battery). People who purchased this are obviously going for the mechanical sound of the keypad, why ruin that experience?- While there is backlighting via south facing LEDs, the keycaps are not transparent and don’t let any light through so it’s largely just for aesthetics- The kicker is that strangely the LCD panel is not backlit which reduces it’s usefulness in low light situations; also the screen could stand to be a little larger- When using as a NumPad, you must shut off the switch and set it to NumPad mode (by holding the AC button about 3 seconds); wish that it would autodetect and switch over with an ablity to manually override to calc modeIt’s not all bad though as aside from the really good sounding key caps/switches, here are a couple of things I do like:- The calc has some heft to it and coupled with the four rubber feet, will prevent it from slipping- The rotary knob can be used to control the MAC/PC volume when used in numpad mode- The key caps and switches are hot swapable allowing you to use custom ones in the futureNot sure if the FW can be upgraded but if so and if Epomaker releases a FW update to disable the beeps by default and implement an auto detect/switch over when a USB cable is plugged in to a MAC/PC, I’ll add on another star.

There's not much to explain on the Cypher keypad here. It's a keypad and it's also a calculator. This is a nifty little novelty function that does separate it from other external keypads for computers, and I give it credit for that. Since it is a keypad at the end of the day, I found myself using the calculator feature very infrequently. However, the times that I did were pretty cool.As a keypad, it is perfectly fine. It has middle-of-the-road switches and keycaps that feel perfectly fine to anyone except for the biggest snobs. It's able to connect over USB and through Bluetooth, although there is no 2.4 gigahertz dongle. And it stays awake for reasonably long before going to sleep. So as a whole, the thing does what it says it does and that's good. This should be a short review and a quick five out of five. However, I have to make a complaint here. For some reason, the makers decided that this should default have its volume turned to maximum, which means that as soon as you turn this thing on, any buttons that you press will make an extremely loud and piercing noise. This noise has bugged the hell out of people in my office so many times, and there's no way to make it so that this noise is off by default. It actually took me a while to figure out how to even turn it off because it's a strange button combination. Why they would choose to do this, I do not know. It seems like nobody really tested this calculator feature before they rolled this out on the line. This might seem like a minor nitpick, but it has significantly marred my experience using this keypad. I'm only going to take one star off for this because it is, at the end of the day, something you can turn off with a button press. However, it is so annoying that I have to give this thing a four out of five.
