Owning a roster of cartridges, I discovered quite soon after changing my turntable to one with a removable head shell that, no matter how carefully I tried, the Technics 52mm white plastic gauge method was sometimes providing erroneous mounting distances. I discovered the probable reason was that after viewing the stylus from various positions, it only gave a 52mm approximation.In an attempt to provide a more definitive 52mm mounting distance I initially purchased a micrometer. Experiencing that I had got it 'right' on more occasions , I was inspired to think of a way I could improve the measuring even more accurately, and perhaps get it 'right' nearly every time.Hence the idea of calipers, which set and locked to 52mm via the micrometer, have greatly improved accurate cartridge mounting, and thus reproduction, through being able to get one curved arm tip right behind the rubber washer and the other tip on the stylus. Result, a minor 52mm hifi problem solved.

Does what it's meant to but the little nut that is used to maintain the adjustment sheared off on the first use, it still does what it needs to but it's now in two pieces.Probably a little flimsy for what it is but I would spend a little more for a better quality product next time.

Per chi deve eseguire lavori al tornio, misurare i diametri o gli spessori con un'approssimazione non eccessiva è lo strumento ideale perchè con una bassa spesa si ha una buona resa. Lo strumento è abbastanza preciso e grazie alla vite millimetrica si riesce ad avere una regolazione fine della misura Il calibro spessore è formato da due forcelle in acciaio spazzolato di circa 2 mm di spessore ed è ben lontano da uno strumento professionale da 4 mm, ma la robustezza è sufficiente e la tenuta della vite micrometrica altrettanto adeguata, pur non avendo una perfetta stabilità. Per la cifra che costa va benissimo, non è uno strumento per le misure dirette, ma serve a misurare indirettamente tramite calibro. Buono per avere un'idea approssimativa durante i lavori di tornitura, ma non lo consiglierei per chi necessita di uno strumento professionale. Personalmente lo utilizzo per verificare lo spessore dei lavori in legno al tornio, ma se ho la necessità di effettuare misure precise devo avvalermi di uno spessimetro a micrometro. Per legno è l'ideale o per lavori di carpenteria grossolani, ma se si necessita di avere una precisione maggiore bisogna passare ad altri tipi di strumento. Perfetto le l'hobbista, ma per chi lavora professionalmente non lo consiglierei. Ottimo il servizio amazon.
