Festool Granat sandpaper is such a consistent performer for wood, paint and anything else that needs sanding. It lasts me at least twice as long as cheaper paper, and sticks really well. Really recommended, top quality!

Festool sandpaper is top notch. I prefer to use the Granat abrasives for 180 grit and below. The Granat doesn't clog like the other Festool sandpaper product lines however it doesn't have the even scratch pattern such as the brilliant. For wood I recommend Brilliant for 220 and above. My sanding schedule usually goes like this:1) Granat 80 Grit2) Granat 120 Grit3) Granat 180 Grit4) Brilliant 220 GritFinish with product with 320 Grit/400 Grit between coats. I suggestion 320 for water born finishes because the grain will be raised and will appear to be rough. Just be careful not to sand too much or you will sand through the finish. Leave at least 24hrs-48hrs to dry between finishes to be safe.

Note - the product picture for these pads is incorrect. These are the triangular shaped pads for edge and corner sanding. Before buying these, I was on the Festool web site verifying part numbers and recommend you do the same.My wife recently assigned me the task of sanding our stairs down to the wood. I don't care for harsh chemicals and would much rather sand. These really do the trick along the edges and corners.I've purchased quite a few different grits and pad types (e.g. Granat, Cristal, Brilliant 2) for my RO 90 and RO 125. While all have worked well to varying degrees, I've found the Granat does particularly well in removed the paint. I've successfully gotten down to the wood in all areas reachable with my RO 90. I will need to finish some very difficult to reach areas by hand but the RO 90 with these pads really did the job.Bottom line, if you need to sand along edges and corners with the unenviable task in removing paint - these will do the trick. As a side note, you can expect them to eventually gum up. It's inevitable since you're sanding paint. I'm averaging one of these pads per stair.
