These protectors are a great idea. They should keep the sander head a fixed distance from the edge you are sanding. They come in three sizes, small medium and large. This makes certain tricky sanding tasks very easy e.g. sanding wooden window beads where you can keep the sander a fixed distance from the the glass. The idea is great but for the steep price I would have hoped for more accurate mouldings from Festool. The protectors clip onto the sander body but doesn't always clip in perfectly evenly around the sanding heads as one might expect; even allowing for the eccentric sander action. I suspect this is due to the rather average quality of these mouldings. Festool are normally more precise than this. Hence three stars.

High quality, perfect fit. Does exactly as intended, keeps the sanding pad edge away from side surfaces. Simple snap on snap off.
