First the bad. This is not the most user friendly. It can be confusing to cycle through the options. That definitely could use improvement but at this price point that is getting picky considering everything you’re getting here. Personally I could care less about the headphone amp, I’m using it strictly as a DAC with fixed output. Nice option to have though and I’ve read it does fine with hard to drive cans however I have not tried the amp part. I use the headphone jack of my Yamaha Aventage AVR currently but mostly listen to it through speakers both in straight stereo(Pure Direct or 2.1) and also the dts virtual mode which I hadn’t previously been impressed with but with this DAC with these room acoustics it works marvelously. My source is a WiiM mini with an optic cable capable of 24/192. I will eventually connect my Oppo 103 bdp via digital coax. I currently have this surround system set up as a 5.1 in my bedroom. I have this R2R DAC set on NOS, yet to try the over sampling. This is my first non delta-sigma DAC and I’m blown away at the sound quality of this DAC. I definitely prefer R2R(resister ladder DAC) to delta-sigma in general. I was surprised by the clarity, especially the highs. I thought they would roll off more, sacrifice some detail for smoothness yet more than enough is there that I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. It is smooth and more authentically analog-like which is what I like best about this style of DAC yet the highs are clear and present without being overdone of course. The mids are prominent, vocals and guitars etc sound real and natural, not subdued, not overwhelming. They can be more forward and prominent on some tracks depending on how they're mixed. The bass is thick and quite full yet not overpowering the mids and highs. Bass is not especially tight yet very pleasing. Maybe it’s just the honeymoon stage but so far this is the sound I was hoping for. I’m thrilled to have a DAC this good for so cheap. Both acoustic and electric instruments play beautifully through this DAC. For the curious I’m not an audio expert. I am an audiophile on a budget. I don’t care about measurements and other technical jargon. I care about usability and sound quality, build quality and price, then looks and size. Build quality is good here, not spectacular. I think it’s good looking. I like the rubber pad underneath but as others have mentioned due to its size and light weight you still must hold it well to attach/remove cables. No biggie for me, to be expected. Obviously your results will depend on your gear and taste. While I’m not claiming to be an expert I do have a clue. I’m a mid-50s music addict from the rock and roll capitol of the world(though other cities may refute this). Been into sound quality since I was old enough to comprehend music and tv. Always tinkering trying to improve sound since I was a kid. I listen to mostly rock and blues, reggae, metal, folk, a little country, some jazz and classical on rare occasion. I own an expansive collection of DVD-Audios, SACD, Blu~ray music, concert DVDs, vinyl, some HDCDs and of course regular CDs. I stream Amazon Unlimited HD from WiiM minis and a Pro, plus my phones and tablets via camera adapter to DAC. I also use a Schiit Modi 3 with Monolith Liquid Spark headphone amp(my Liquid Spark DAC that I loved died), a Monolith Liquid Platinum DAC with its companion Monolith Liquid Platinum headphone amp(duel tube hybrid), and a Geshelli JS2 with Sparkos op-amp(SE) to my late model Sony ES AVR(7.2.2 set-up) and the Alex Cavelli Drop tube hybrid headphone amp(the Sony has no headphone jack). I love all my gear and I use them in different ways in a couple different rooms. For the moment my FIIO K11 R2R DAC is my pound for pound favorite. Too new to know about longevity yet no issues so far other than learning how to operate it. Edit: one issue although I’m not sure if it’s source. On several occasions the music has stopped. I’m not sure if it’s the DAC or my streamer but I don’t recall this issue when I had the streamer wired directly into the Yamaha(via optic). It starts up again after several seconds to a minute or so. Could be internet too but I’m close to the router and I get upper 400s MBPS. Also for the curious my gear for this set-up is Yamaha RX-A730 AVR, WiiM Mini, Oppo 103, Andrew Jones designed Pioneer towers, center, bookshelves and sub. I just received another K11, this time in black, that I’ll swap out my Schiit Modi 3 to my Monolith Liquid Spark headphone amp to try it with my cans. I own the Sennheiser Drop 6XX, Sennheiser 599, Beyerdynamic dt990, HiFiMan 400i, Phillips Fidelio F3, Monolith M1570, Monolith M650, Status Audio OB1 & CB1, and a few others. Eventually I’ll get around to trying the headphone amp part just out of curiosity, not expecting too much.

Sto' testando diversi Dac tramite PC e Jriver in posizione Desktop. Prima di questo Fiio , ho avuto ,per circa 3 settimane un Topping D 50 iii . Per adesso stò testando solo l'USB , ma devo dire che questo Fiio , gia dalle prime , mi è apparso subito piu musicale del Topping , specie in modalità NOS . Magari è anche anche una questione di gusti, ma il Topping tende ad essere un sottile o scarno sulla parte medio bassa , rendendo gli ascolti un pò piu faticosi , anche se , devo dire che è un buon DAC.Questo Fiio , oltre ad essere un bel DAC da vedere , suona decisamente piu "caldo", specie sulla parte vocale , rendendo gli ascolti prolungati piu piacevoli . Naturalmente sono ascolti in postazione Desktop, quindi con i diffusori abbastanza vicini . Consiglio questo Dac per chi ama ascoltare musica con un tono "caldo" ma comunque dinamico

Dans l'ensemble ce DAC offre une large connectique et un son clair et propre.Il alimentera sans problème la majorité des casques audio que ce soit en jack ou en bal.Il propose trois niveaux de gain, un mode OS et NOS.Pas de logiciel, pas de prise de tête, on branche, ça fonctionne... Point barre.La finition est, là encore, excellente, pas de jeu, pas vibration ou de bruit bizarre.

Ich habe mein Exemplar ausnahmsweise woanders erworben, wollte aber meine Erfahrungen mitteilen. Leider hat der K11 r2r meine nach den vielen positiven Tests hohen Erwartungen nicht wirklich erfüllt. Er klingt zwar wirklich sehr sauber, und auch wenig "digital", allerdings hatte er im Non Oversampling Modus Probleme bei chaotischen und wilden Passagen zB bei der Filmmusik zu "Boba Fett", wenn es zur Sache ging, stieg er im NOS Modus irgendwie aus, das war im OS Modus viel besser, der war dafür aber auch für mich dann subjektiv zu glatt. Was gut war, Sprecher-Stimmen im Radio klingen sehr gut, und auch feine Geräusche, aber es fehlte mir entweder an Ordnung, oder an Kraft im Sound.Und die Bedienung ist sehr nervig, es gibt nur einen Knopf, den man entweder kurz, lang, oder 2x drücken muss, da das Gerät sehr leicht ist, und meine Kabel eher hochwertig und schwer, steht er nicht sehr fest, und bewegt sich wenn man den Knopf versucht zu drücken, und dermassen viele Funktionen mit nur einem Knopf zu handeln war für mich sehr lästig.Der AKM4493 Wandler den ich im Vergleich getestet habe, hat eine Fernbedienung, ein grösseres Display, und einfach mehr "Balls" klanglich, mehr Kraft, er ist bestimmt nicht ganz so detailliert, aber geht auch nicht bei komplexen Passagen so schnell in die Knie, und ist für mehr verschiedene Musikrichtungen geeignet. Den K11 r2r würde ich Menschen empfehlen die viel Hörbücher und Podcasts hören, da klingt er wirklich gut und natürlich, und die Stimmen sind sehr gut zu verstehen, aber für brachiale Orchestermusik fand ich ihn zB ungeeignet.Test fand an einem TPA3255 Verstärker statt.

Sonido calido, natural y orgánico , con muchas conexiones, pre amplificador para audifonos y sonido R2R a ese precio es genial.

So I'd like to preface that I've tried a lot of DACs before, all of them excel at something but have shortcoming in something else. For example Soekris 1541 has the widest soundstage but doesn't sound that organic for R2R, Bifrost 2 OG has the biggest bass slam and good imaging but is slightly fuzzy in the bass area, Bifrost 2/64 to me just sounds too neutral like delta sigma DACs......... so on so fourth..... every DAC is good at something but bad at something else.Here FiiO give their first attempt at R2R and knock it out of the park. It's not the BEST at any category, like if you only look at 1 aspect say like soundstage size. It's not the biggest soundstage size. If you just look at bass slam it's not the hardest slam out of any DAC. But it's good at everything. I can't really think of any flaws, it's just very good at everything. Like 8.5/10 across the board. Like some DAC would have 1 category 10/10 but next category 7/10, this is not the case here.It basically got good organic vocal, very musical / rich tuning, good R2R imaging/soundstage, decent bass slam, very airy up top. Best of all the price is HALF of its closest competition which is Modi Multibit 2. Though I think NOS mode I actually like it more on the FiiO K11 R2R. So I'd recommend buying this over Modi Multibit 2.Unless you need XLR output or need really high end DAC, I'd recommend just buy this instead. Only time I'd start considering other DAC is when you go up to maybe Gungnir level or so. But at that point you're approaching 6x the price or so.OH ok I lied, there is one shortcoming. The built in single ended amp is "just okay". I'd pretend the amp doesn't exist. Though I read the balanced amp is actually decent. But I run it as DAC only and run a line out to my tube amp then it punches way above its price point. As I mentioned closest would be Modi Multibit 2 which costs double.So my suggestion is buy this, run NOS mode, then buy another headphone amp (some say Atom+ Amp works well, but I run tube amp). Then you're pretty much set.Cheers!
