The rack holds my hats (cowboy and fedora and straw). I have also put some baseball caps in the brim hats to minimize the dust inside of my other hats. Works great and looks great.

Summary: Overall I gave this a '3' based overall on what I received for the price vs. a few minor shortcomings. I recommend applying polyurethane to the wood portions - even re-staining first - and using better quality anchors than those provided. Judging by their healthy magnetic attraction, I seriously doubt that the hat arms are "stainless steel" as advertised. They're coated though, so there shouldn't be issues. Once installed, the rack looks pretty good and seems stable enough for its intended purpose. I was satisfied enough that I'd consider the item again, though aware it would need some re-work.Details: The box contained three stained, wood wall mounts, six metal hat arms, eight screws (one bent) & eight sheetrock anchors. (Two screws and anchors were spares. And you won't need the anchors if you happen to drill into wall studs.) These parts form three rack units that can be mounted in whatever configuration you prefer: all in a column, next to each other, separate or whatever. Each wood mount has two holes - each backed with a wooden block that has a slot and another hole. Each metal hat arm has a tab with a hole in it. To assemble, you slip the tabs on the hat arms into the slots on the wooden blocks. You then insert screws from the front of the wood mounts, through the blocks and tabs, and into the anchors. Snug, but don't overtighten, or you risk either stripping the screws in the anchors or pull the anchors from the sheetrock.The stained finish was OK and the wood faces relatively smooth, but the sides had visible saw marks and splotchy stain. The wood is quite soft and light, but strong enough for its use here. I sanded and re-stained the pieces with some Minwax Provincial 211 which looked reasonably close. Following another reviewer's lead, I also sprayed the wood pieces with several coats of satin polyurethane, which significantly improved appearance. Screws were shiny so I sprayed them with satin black paint after first rinsing with alcohol. The included plastic anchors were terrible. Only two actually held screws; the others all were so loose that I couldn't even snug, much less tighten, the screws. I instead used other, higher quality anchors.UPDATE: I added an extra star for proactive customer service. The seller saw my review noting some issues with materials and offered to send a free replacement. (No; I did not accept the offer - I don't need a second rack - but i appreciated it.)
