I had a sticky & out of spec intake valve in my 1994 28M707 13HP B&S L "flathead" (side-valve) engine causing a no compression/no start scenario.This was an exact replacement; simply grind the stem to achieve proper clearance and lap in place with some valve grinding compound.Runs like new now, A+.If you have a 28XXXX series B&S engine (12, 12.5, 13, I/C, Quiet, Powerbuilt, etc) this valve will fit your engine without any issues.

You will need to check the valve clearance when installing a new valve in an old flathead briggs engine. The new valve will probably be too tight, this one was, and you will need to set the clearance by carefully grinding the tip of the valve until it is correct. .005 to .007 thousands of an inch for the intake valve in my engine. If you don't have the correct valve clearance your engine will run poorly or not at all.
