We have been using this thing daily for 3 months now. I wanted a thermal insulated press and there aren't many options out there. It keeps our coffee hot for several hours! Overall I am impressed. For us it makes 4 modest cups of coffee or enough to fill 2 larger travel mugs). At first I wasn't excited about the plastic plunger and mesh screen. GSI used to have stainless. I didn't really want plastic in my french press, and the mesh surface area is a bit on the small side compared to your typical stainless screen. But this thing does have a silicone seal on the plunger which does well to keep grinds from escaping. Because of the airtight design (and smaller mesh screen) you can't just force the plunger down. The trick is to press it until pressure builds then lift the plunger slightly and rotate it a bit before pressing again. This process agitates the grounds and allows liquid to pass through the screen more easily. Keep repeating this until the plunger is all the way down. I highly recommend for home or for camping!

This is a game changer for providing hot coffee when camping. My coffee stayed hot for over 4 hours today, it would have stayed hot longer but I was on the move, I was very pleased with this product. I used to own the GSI Outdoors Javapress 50oz French Press Coffee Maker which was plastic with a mesh sleeve and coffee would get cold pretty quickly. This stainless steel unit is heavier but I do not mind one bit since I’m super picky about having hot coffee when camping. I use this as a home unit now too, it seems to taste better than my normal French press. Game changer…

What I like best is the strainer they use. 99% of the coffee grinds are kept below the strainer and out of the drinkable coffee. Canister is built sturdy and is very well insulated. We enjoy a stronger flavor of coffee so we had to make adjustments to their recipe which is pretty standard stuff

Arrived broken but I contacted GSI and they sent a replacement. This is an awesome little French Press, keeps coffee hot for a long time.

Best press I’ve ever owned. I have one at home, one at work, and one in my camping setup. Couldn’t be happier with this product! GSI make very high quality gear you can count on.
