Apparently this is a British company, I thought it's bound to be designed by a mechanic and work well, I order the top of the line model. I was wrong, this cannot have been designed by a British company, if it was, it was a sketch on a piece of A4 sent to China and with no prototypes tested. The main rear dial to set the advance angle turns more freely than any dial I've ever used, on hifi etc, on anything. It turns almost from a gust of wind. What does this mean, it means that every time you pick the gun up you need to check the dial position. In fact not even every time you pick it up, but constantly check it.That would be bad enough, but the pointer on the dial which indicates the advance angle on the surrounding scale, is 1mm in size, and black. The panel around the dial is also black. Ok so imagine the scenario, you're in your garage, subdued light to clearly see the strobe, you can't see what the dial is set to, I mean you really can't see it. Invisible, a 1mm nodule which is black, on black. Put a head-torch on, and squint the nodule pointer into focus, turn the head torch off, go for a few flashes. Adjust the dizzy. Now you need to check the gun's dial again, as it's might have moved, it had, nightmare. This was never used by a mechanic while it was in the design stage. If that's not bad enough, the dial and scale is really quite small. There's no confidence in accuracy between 10 degree and 12 degrees, or with a gust of wind 15 degrees, all the angles are too close together, why couldn't this scale and dial have been larger (that at least should have been on the A4 sketch design) - and the dial should be stiffer (more set and forget) and the pointer larger and white (or the panel behind white, i.e. not black on black). With the strength of plastics today, what's the real point of a metal body. If anything goes wrong inside the gun, with the gun attached to the car battery, what would you rather holding - plastic or metal?Real shame. With such a lack of good timing lights, this is just another sub-par one, mainly through it's bad design and manufacture.Crazy. What are the other options? well really there's not many. The market is desperate for a good solid practical trimming light. This is NOT it.

Great item good price. Good quality and does exactly what it says it does. Bought this for my positive earth car, a austin healey 100/6. Worked perfectly for upgrading my healey to electronic ignition. It's really easy to set up and the strobe light is quite bright.

Does what it says on the tin. The dial could be a bit bigger and the leads a bit longer but otherwise a well built product.
