I was looking for a mounting plate suitable for the Canon RF800mm for a while, and with a day before the start of Bournemouth Air Festival I had another look and this new product came up.The Arca-Swiss plate is the full length (unlike the iShoot foot which is only at the front), and there are bolts you can remove to stop it sliding if you want. I removed them as I like to place the lens and camera down on a flat surface, where it will remain perfectly balanced. I have a L-Bracket on my R6, which doesn't seem to affect the balance, if you have an R5 which weighs a bit more you may find it less stable like this. However, when attached to a tripod those slight differences shouldn't matter and the whole setup was perfectly stable. I haven't tried portrait shooting yet, but the mount feels up to it.The integrated strap attachment on the front was just what I was looking for when using off the tripod as I can attach my strap to it and the bottom of my camera bracket for a much more comfortable setup when walking around. You wouldn't get that with the iShoot foot.Using the lens handheld was fine for me, I liked that I could hold the lens differently by the foot if my hand was getting tired. The only issue I've had was the foot coming a bit loose after a few hours of fitting it and use, but I tightened it up and had no issues over the next couple of days, so be aware to check it after attaching, although it could have been me in a rush not tightening it fully in the first place. It's more expensive than the iShoot foot, but much better suited for my needs. Maybe the price will go down in time, but I think it has been worth it so far for a dedicated product.Overall, it also looks nice and fits really well, the mount is all one piece of aluminium and feels premium. I took a risk on a new product with no reviews but it seems to have worked out well for me, and definitely recommend if you want to attach this lens to a tripod, but also want a strap and handheld use too.
