This is a repet of a similar unit I reveived a few weeks ago. I originally gave this two stars out of my own ignorance. it wasn't until I found the user manual which made evey thing oh, so clear. The photo shows what loks like two units, while in fact it is the same unit with photos of the front and back set on top of one another. I wired it up with the HDMI cable from my cable box as the input and the fibre optic cable from the box to my sound bar, along with the HDMI cable from the box to my tv as HDMI2. What this did was bypass the tv first before connecting my sound bar from the tv and . The tv will split the incoming video/audio signal, then send it on its way to the soundbar. This device does the splitting before th tv does it ,saving some audio quality. The result was instant. I had theatre sound from my soundbar/base subwoofer right away on programs that did not offer this true stereo sound. The bad news. If you are watching a true 4K program like a hockey/baseball game, the device is not recognized as part of the 4K picture/sound package, so it will not allow you to watchthe game in 4K mode. I had to watch in normal definition mode which was still in 1080 form. At the moment, there are only a few 4k broadcasts so switching the unit in and out isn't a big deal right now.

Excellent product, got new LG TV without audio output and needed to connect to a technics av amp without out hdmi or optic inputs. This lead did this without too much effort, had to change a few settings on TV and sky box. Very good sound and able to alter volume by the TV or Sky remote. Very happy

This HDMI audio extractor has been a really useful solution for my projector setup. Since my projector doesn’t have an audio out port, I needed a way to connect headphones without running a long cable from my laptop. This device does exactly that by splitting the audio while still passing the video signal through to the projector. Setup was simple, just plug everything in and it worked straight away with no lag or loss in video quality. The sound output is clear with no interference or buzzing, and having both optical and stereo options makes it flexible for different setups. The build quality feels solid and it doesn’t take up much space, which is great since I didn’t want extra clutter. It runs cool even after hours of use and I haven’t had any issues with dropouts or buzzing problems. It has made a big difference in my setup, letting me use headphones without the hassle of extra long cables. If you need a way to extract audio from an HDMI signal, this does the job really well.

There are a few scenarios where it would be handy to be able separate the audio from HDMI. This is where a device like this comes in.In the bag you get the splitter, a power cable and some documentation. You will need to supply your own 5v source. In terms of connections you have an HDMI in and out, a optical out and standard RCA analogue. It's easy enough not connect and it works as expected. However it is limited to HDMI 1.4. So if you have a 4k source it will be limited in refresh.A decent little box.

I pick this up for a DIY home theater solution, and I'm overall impressed with the end result.I don't think for this price you're going to be blown away for the build quality, as it is plasticy, but it'll get the job done.I had a leftover sound bar that could hook up to optical, and the affordable projector only had a headphone jack.So that's when I saw this looking for a solution, and knew that intercepting the audio from HDMI was a much better option. It was just a plug-and-go with a little bit of tucking things away, that made it all just flawless.I think that if you're in the market for something like what I did, then this really should be on your short list for a affordable DIY home theater setup
