I was expecting more hassle, with other sensors of this type I've had to do some amount of signal conditioning/offset removal but not with this one.The wiring diagram is right on the label and this is also the key to the wiring colours, it even tells you what the maximum current available on the sense pin is.In use the output is rail to rail straight out of the box with no conditioning required, simples, you put 12V in and when something metal gets in the way of the sensor the output goes from the - rail to 12V.The label says 10-30V but I found that mine would work reliably down to 6V and the 200ma output is more than enough to flick a relay (with flyback diode of course). There is also a built in LED which makes setup/debugging a breeze.

In today's world of electronics given how small sensors have become, this sensor is considered "massive" to the better ones out there. Why? well:1) It's bulky (huge comparing to others).2) Top (diaphragm) side was plastic (this did not lower the score, as the plastic is quite rigid to be fair)3) Requires 12V-24V to power up.4) Connecting to power: without sensing @12V it was drawing 6mA of power, when it was sensing it was drawing up to 12mA.5) The sensor failed to notice objects passing from 5cm away.6) The detection was a little flaky (not a smooth signal) at 12V, testing with 16V gave much better results. The problem for me was the sensing distance, the bulkiness and power required to get it to move comparing to others out there that would have a whole microcontroller with all bells and whistles connected at 5V instead.Unfortunately, this did not work for me in the end as the detection range was way too short (15mm max) as also confirmed on the product page.
