The 'Hopgo Jigsaw Puzzle 1000 Piece for Adult, Beaded Octopus Puzzle, 70 x 50cm' arrived with a full size poster of the jigsaw in a shrink wrapped box.I have to say I find the subject of this jigsaw unusual especially with the beading.Having had other jigsaws by what appears to be the same manufacturer I was expecting that the pieces would not have letters on their rear to allow the jigsaw to be assembled in smaller sections; my assumption was correct; this means the jigsaw has to be assembled in the old way of all 1000 pieces; this requires a much larger working space; which may not be available; the segmented technique breaks the jigsaw down into a number of smaller jigsaws which is often anything from 4 to 8; this means a much smaller working area is needed and as each section is completed it can potentially be stacked on top of a previous one by using a suitable separator. The pieces in this jigsaw appear to be in good condition with no signs of any defect and they have been fully cut and separated from adjacent pieces. When assembled the pieces of the jigsaw locked together nicely, though at present I have only completed the outside as based on another jigsaw I am working on I expect it to take several days to complete; if it had been segmented it may have taken a little over 4 hours.Once the jigsaw is completed I will update the review to include a final picture. As this jigsaw lacks segmentation if that is a preferred option it would be a simple task to turn the jigsaw over so that a mark could be placed on each piece to indicate a section; possibly using a selection of acrylic paint pens.Update 1 June 2025;This has been one of the most challenging jigsaws that my wife and I have completed for some time; it took us in excess of 18 hours to complete after an initial quick start with the octopus head everything rapidly slowed until we finally completed the jigsaw. It can be seen from my photographs that there is one piece missing, though I believe that we lost it when some pieces fell to the floor, so I will not be deducting any marks for that. All of the pieces in this jigsaw interlocked nicely enabling the jigsaw to be lifted by one edge.

I really enjoyed working on this 1000-piece puzzle though it was quite challenging and it's not perfect. The beaded octopus design is absolutely stunning in person, with vibrant underwater colours and intricate details that make it feel more like a piece of art than just a puzzle. Once completed, it looks gorgeous and would definitely make a great piece to frameThe pieces fit together cleanly, and can be pulled apart without issue if you make a mistake and all the pieces are well made. There are no frayed edges or awkward misfit pieces which made putting this puzzle together a satisfying experience. It's 1000 pieces and they're all there. The finished size (70x50cm) is perfect and large enough to appreciate the image without taking over your entire table or puzzle board. It comes with a reference poster which is to scale and means you can use it to help you complete this puzzle. That said though, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. It is VERY time consuming and more challenging than it needs to be. There are so many pieces that are similar in colour and not much to distinguish them. On top of that there are large areas of block colours, like on the octopus and areas of the sea and it needs a bit more differentiation. There are no letters of guides on the back of the pieces either.Overall though, it’s a great quality puzzle that offers a challenge, and it is lovely when finished. It would make a lovely gift for any puzzle enthusiast or ocean art lover.
