I purchased this product to carry out spectral transmission analysis of optical products.The spectrometer seemed off-band, but once the cosine corrector was removed, it was within spec of 0.5nm.Be aware that the readout have resolution of 1nm, and not 0.2nm as advertised.

I am not a nubie to spectrometers or computers. I wanted to calibrate my spectrometer for usual optical power measurements. I purchased a 'calibrated light' and found that the data was inconsistent -- i. e. the Sun temperature in the early AM was 7000K (should be ~4500K, noon ~5600K). For that 'calibrated light', this unit measured that was 3090K and not stated 2850K. Those in the field know that makes a huge difference.I wanted an alternate method to test the optical power. I needed a company that developed a good unit, good price. I also like to see that they make other established products along similar lines -- the more products they make in this line implies experience and confidence in that they are knowledgeable in the field and we can count on them for accuracy. If the company has 'only ONE Product as their only product, you might wonder if they have adequate experience in making an accurate, reliable products.It has all the measurement capabilities I needed and a screen to show the spectrum. It has a reasonable price. It's fast, seems to be consistent, and came calibrated. It has just about every optical metric possible. The CIE Standard year can be selected via the program. And If I need to do a quick check on accuracy, just point at the sun at noon and compare with 5600K.Once loaded the program has no issue with managing the unit. (Win 10 Prof)The only issues I found were:WIN10 did not just recognize the unit as new device or just simply use the unit as a USB memory so that I could get the program. It also did not ask for the location of driver (like the XP example in the manual) like a 'New Hardware Installation window'. Without the driver, the WIN 10 system seemed to not allow me to connect as a usual USB memory and get the programs. I think it should always default to the USB storage and change only when the program interfaces.I had to remove the memory card and plug into my computer, load drivers and programs, and install from the chip.The other issue is the manual. The manual on the memory chip is Chinese, and the translation for a pdf Chinese document on line is ok, but not that good. To download the manual from the website required a password. On the GOOD SIDE: I requested the password and within 12 hours I received the English version of the manual. Seems like a very responsive company!So, my other recommendation is that they eliminate the password requirement to get the manual. Some of us sometimes like to read the user manual before purchasing to really understand the unit I want to buy and all the features. This is not a $10 US item, it is an investment. So, being able to get the manual helps us make an informed decision.In all, I am impressed and this seems to be a great unit and exactly what I wanted. .

Cet appareil est parfait pour évaluer la qualité du rendu des couleurs (IRC ou Ra selon les marques), car avec les ampoules économiques, fluo-compactes et LED, certaines couleurs sont mal rendues, notamment les rouges, qui étaient très bien rendus avec les ampoules à incandescence (filament tungstène).Avec cet appareil vous pouvez voir très facilement le rendu des 15 couleurs du test normalisé, notamment R9 qui correspond à un rouge vif.Le Ra est généralement calculé sur les 8 premières couleurs (R1 à R8), si bien que la valeur R9 n'est pas prise en compte !Par exemple une ampoule LED standard blanc chaud à Ra de 80 donne généralement un rendu du rouge vif R9 voisin de zéro : ca ne veut pas dire que le rouge ne se voit pas mais qu'il est déformé, il ressemble à un rouge passé au soleil, ou tirant vers le orange ou le marron, pour donner une idée.Les ampoules de qualité avec un Ra = 95 donnent la plupart du temps un R9 = 90, ce qui est très satisfaisant.Très difficile de déterminer ces valeurs sans cet appareil sans équivalent en Europe ou à des prix très élevés.

I just got the OHSP-350C, and am very pleased with it. It does seem to do exactly what I was wanting it to do; measure the light spectrum for horticultural usage.It is fairly easy to use; right out of the box. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot more about it with time.The company appears to be first class; quick communication replies, DHL shipping that was VERY fast!My first impression is that it’s definitely worth the price!
