I recently got an induction stove, but I still had some favorite non-metal pots, including a glass teapot that I wanted to keep using. This plate allows me to use them on my induction stove with no problems. However, I don't think it would work as well if your pot or pan was much bigger than the size of the plate as the heating would be off-center and the pan would possibly sit at an angle off of the plate.

Got this to use with a mocha pot that has a smaller base that my burner. Its a good size, weight and thickness to holdup to high heats. I didn't realize until I read it in the instruction pamphlet that this is also great for defrosting meat on as an additional use. It's the perfect size to hold 2 portions of salmon for a quick defrost.

I bought this hotplate for my Moka espresso pot on my induction stove to prevent burning of the coffee. And it's worked like a charm. I also use it at the lake house which has a gas stove for the same purposes.I have zero complaints about this product because it works exactly as advertised and as I required. The price point was fantastic.Excellent product.

We have two induction cookers and like most people, have mostly non-induction pans. We have some new induction ones but we wanted a means to bridge the gap if we needed to. Also we know you can use one of these plates to defrost things and have used something like that before and found them useful. This is a nice solid device and fits perfectly flat on the induction unit, which is important. It has a nice solid insulated handle, which is important as this thing gets hot.Essentially what you are doing is using the induction unit to heat this plate to act like a heating element for your non-induction pans. It is not the most efficient thing to do, but it is a makeshift option to allow you to mix these two non-compatible things. To see what the difference is:We took an induction pan of 5-½” diameter and filled it with 2 cups of ~65 deg F. water (64-67 deg). We used an instant read thermometer to verify tempsPut it on first the 1800W burner and timed it, while taking it to 210 deg F.1800W induction cooker with induction pan took 3 minutesWe then took a non-induction pan of 5-½” diameter and repeated the above with the plate between the pot and the cooker.Put it on first the 1800W burner and timed it, while taking it to 210 deg F.1800W induction cooker with this plate and non-inductive pan took 11:50 minutes. We did note during the boil that there were some hot spots as well. So the heating is not even. Then we were wondering if we were saving time, or just pans by using an induction system with non-induction pan, so we tried it on our smooth top GE range using the smallest burner of the PowerBoil set (12”, 8”, 6”) GE says 3600, but likely 1200W for the 6” burner. The electric stove with non-induction pan took only 6:25 minutes. So in a nutshell.Yes, you can use non-induction-able plans with this plate. But there is a cost.To boil 2 cups of water (essentially 210 degrees)On a 1800W induction cooker:A induction-able pan would take 3 minutesA non induction-able pan with this plate would take 11:50 minutesOn an electric flat stop stove (~1200W) it only took 6:25 minutesIn a 1000W microwave (glass measuring cup) it only took 4:40 minutesThese quick tests were made as equal as they could be (in a household) but give you a rough idea how things compare. Speed is not everything.Sometimes you have a unique pan you want to use or the induction cooker is your only option or more convenient.

I must admit the quality is excellent, you can feel it when you hold itThanks to this plate, I can use my caffettiera on any induction hobsThe only thing is that it could have been slightly smaller, since the diameter is 20cmThis means you can also use it for other pots, but it's not super portable when on holiday for example
