I got this in case I ever come across a stray; I will scan them. I love that it scans really fast, and I already tried it on my own microchipped pets; the numbers show up accurately. I love that it also fits in my pocket, so it's super easy to carry around.Keep in mind, I used this on an older pet with a very old microchip brand from AVID. This new scanner does not scan older chips but works wonders with the newer ones. The way I found out is how my hospital has their own microchip universal scanner and they're huge. The big scanner was able to read the AVID microchips but when I tried it with mine, it wouldn't scan it. It's great overall but keep in mind that it may not scan older brand microchips.

It works and does what it says it will. Read the chip off a new cat we found and ended up contacting owner. Been handy to check other cats & know if they are chipped. Easy to read and easy to use. Accurate & battery lasts so far.

I just got it today so this will be a ‘first impression’ review.First of all, I ordered it because I needed to update our microchip info…and yes, I could have looked up our vet records but….this was easier on my adhd (for now).I received it super fast and opened it right away. Right away I scanned my pets and it read quickly. The dog was a bit nervous about me using it, and it didn’t scan at first, but then I found it. I waved it over the cats and it read right away. Then out the number into several online websites and results were found. I inherited a relatives dog so now I can call and get the info switched.I love it so far and it works really well right now.
