Well made filter and love the water treatment additive. The treatment additive lasts about two years in my situation. I do have to take a toothbrush to the filter media if the rust in the water builds up to thickly. This puts filter back in like new condition.

I originally purchased an iSpring spin-down filter housing with 50 micron cartridge my well and installed it ahead of a 'big blue' type sediment filter. Not surprisingly, the 50 micron mesh accumulated sediment too quickly, reducing water pressure. I installed ball valves on both sides so it's easy to clean, but I decided to switch to 200 microns so I don't have to clean so often. I got the one with Siliphos to mitigate against scale. Many months later, I noticed the spin-down drain valve wasn't working. I removed the cartridge and noticed it only had two 'ears' to hold it in place (it's supposed to have four). Apparently the two ears bent under pressure, allowing the cartridge to slip past it's nominal position and bottom out in the bowl, thus blocking the drain. Moreover, this left a large gap at the top, allowing some amount of water to bypass the filter. I straightened the ears with needle nose pliers, but two ears are simply not strong enough to hold the filter in place under pressure.I contacted the manufacturer for support. It's not clear how I ended up with a two-ear cartridge... one possibility is that Amazon screwed up by substituting a poorly designed knock-off, perhaps an unused return? iSprings could have passed the buck to Amazon and I would have been out of luck since it was way past the 30-day return period. Instead, Nick happily replaced my cartridge. In fact, he sent two -- one with Siliphos and one without, as there's some question about the usefulness of Siliphos ahead of a water softener, as is the case in my installation. Thanks, Nick!

I set this up with an automatic flush with a yard sprinkler controller. I set it up with a daily 3 minute flush by keeping the valve open on the bottom and use the controller as the valve that opens to flush. Works awesome. I already had a drain field to pipe it to. So it was easy. Could of just piped it out of the pump house just as well. Didn’t want a ice field in the winter though. Great filter though.

We recently moved to a house with well water and for the first time in our lives had to deal with sediment - fine sand really - in our water. We noticed it primarily in the cold water inlet to our washing machine. After some research, I discovered this and almost couldn't be more pleased. As a filter, it works amazingly well, it rinses very easily (and powerfully) but installing it left me wishing there were better surfaces on the filter by which I could grab it with a wrench or pliers. If it had better surfaces to grab, I'd give it a hearty 5 stars. As it is, I have no hesitation giving it a stout 4 stars. I can definitely recommend this for well systems that can be gritty at times.
