Honestly I can’t say if shifting is much better with this cable than the polymer coated Shimano cables but it this does work very well with my Ultegra R8000 shifters. I believe getting into smaller cogs on the cassette might be a bit faster but it’s hard to say for sure. I do like the fact that this cable has no coating and is highly polished so the housings won’t get clogged with extra material that would be getting rubbed off, I did put some silicone grease on before installing it. The fact that it is slightly thinner than other cables should cause less friction logically speaking but I’m really just hoping it will last longer than usual since it is rather expensive. I probably have about 1000 miles or more on them and the shifting is still smooth so time will tell.
