As others have said, this sounds great with Audiogate and actually really very nice when using Tidal. DSD files with Audiogate are really terrific.I was initially sceptical due to the 3 star rating from whatHfi, but a friend assured me that that website is complete crap. And in fact this sounds easily as nice as the Arcam IRDAC which I owned previously and WhatHiFi gave 5 stars and product of the year!!! When used for streaming it's as good as the Arcam and better using the audiogate software.I am vey lucky though as I got mine for £182 from Amazon which seems an absolute bargain to me

Sehr gediegener DSD Klang ! Tolle Räumlichkeit. Mächtige stabile und knackscharfe Basswiedergabe. Auch normale CD 44 bzw. 192 Khz Wiedergabe auf sehr hohem Niveau. Klare, nachvollziehbare Steigerung Zu SONY SACD Player ES999 sowie OPPO 105 DVD Player als bisherige Audio Wiedergabegeräte. Hochwertiges USB Kabel sollte verwendet werden. Das Standard Kabel klingt etwas gepresst. Betrieben mit Audioquest Carbon Kabel sowie PPa USB V3 TCXO PCI USB Card.

My only gripes are lack of 352.4k and 384k sample rate capability and word clock in for re-clocking to a higher quality clock. Also no S/Pdif input for external digital sources. Sound quality is very good and drivers are very stable. Audiogate 4 software rocks. I up-sample my CD's to DSD and the result is very pleasant.

macOS Sierra(2016/09)対応アナウンスはまだありません。 Zoom位?>USB3.0).

Endlich mal ein vernünftiger Wandler in guter Verarbeitung, Made in Japan.

Don't bother buying this DAC unless you are a very serious audiophile. It is highly under-rated by many reviewers who simply did not understand it's virtues and probably tested it in suboptimal conditions. At the current price (First, you buy this DAC for its native DSD capabilities and forget the other formats. Yes, it will do many other formats, but so can most other DACs on the market, like the one you may already have. Don't buy this DAC as a multipurpose DAC, and you won't be disappointed. For FLAC and other files, there are better DACs out there, but maybe not for the money. Buy it for DSD. This DAC operates using the Cirrus Logic CD4398 chipset. According to Cirrus Logic, "the CS4398 is a complete stereo audio 24-bit/192 kHz digital/analog converter (DAC) system. This D/A system includes digital de-emphasis, half dB step-size volume control, ATAPI channel mixing, selectable fast and slow roll off digital interpolation filters followed by an oversampled multibit Delta-Sigma modulator, which includes mismatch shaping technology that eliminates distortion due to capacitor mismatch. Following this stage is a multi-element switched capacitor stage and low-pass filter with differential analog outputs. The CS4398 DAC also has a proprietary Direct Stream Digital (DSD) processor, which allows for volume control and 50 kHz on-chip filtering without an intermediate decimation stage. It also offers an optional path for direct DSD conversion by directly using the multi-element switched capacitor array. The CS4398 accepts PCM (pulse code modulation) data at sample rates from 32 kHz to 200 kHz and DSD audio data, has selectable digital filters, consumes little power and delivers excellent sound quality."The Audiogate software with which this product integrates will enable you to upsample your entire digital library to the DSD format. You can pick 2.8 or 5.6 Mhz DSD files. But, before you do that, download a genuine DSD file from a site like Acoustic Sounds and play it though this DAC. It should blow you away if you have installed the DAC properly (as described below). All products mentioned in this review are available on Amazon, I think. Not sure about the lightspeed cable, but I wouldn't recommend it for this product because of the price.Second, be prepared to drop some extra money on storage and processing power (maybe). DSD files are HUGE. They stream at an extraordinarily high bit rate, and they sound closer to pure analog than anything digital ever has. How big? A single CD upsampled to DSD 5.6 ended up being 3.65 GB! Also, you probably need to consider the processing speed of your computer. Mine is fast and powerful. Wouldn't recommend any of this if you're using a PC running Windows Vista, 98 or XT.Third, don't even think about connecting this DAC to your system with the cheap USB cable supplied with it. It deserves far better. The unit is POWERED by the USB cable, which also carries the digital music signal from your computer to the DAC. So, duh....you don't want a single cable delivering power and signal. Here's what I recommend (I did this for my system and it is amazing). Consider a LH lightspeed 10G cable ($$$$), or, if you're like me and you want to economize a bit, buy the iFi Gemini cable. I recommend the Gemini cable as it integrates with the iFi iPurifier. The Gemini cable separates power and music signal; each attach to separate USB ports on the computer. That's a half-way solution that can be improved substantially, for . . . a little more money. I do not power the Korg DAC with USB power from the computer. Instead, I attach the Gemini cable to iFi's iUSB Micro USB Power Supply using the iFi Mercury cable. The result is amazing. Yes, the cabling and power supply costs more than the DAC! But, without it, the DAC sounds just . . . well, ordinary. Its potential would not be otherwise realized.Fourth, buy good interconnection between this DAC and your preamp/amplification. I connected mine using MIT Matrix 6 XLR cables. Pricey, but worth it. The sound is fantastic. You have the option of using either RCA or XLR connections, the latter being my preference always. Finally, the Audiogate software is clunky and not the best for a music library. But you use it for utilitarian reasons only. It plays NATIVE DSD files for the DAC, and it does the upsampling conversions that I mentioned earlier. I upsampled FLAC files at various resolutions: 16 bit/44.1 Khz; 24 bit/96 Khz; and 24 bit/192 Khz. The greatest improvement is noticeable moving from 16/44.1 to DSD. The 24 bit FLAC files are worthy of 5.6 MHz DSD conversion. The 16 bit FLAC files do not sound any better at 5.6 than they do at 2.8 MHz. So there is no audible justification for upsampling them to 5.6 given the added storage requirements. It is time consuming to do the conversions, but not so bad once you figure out the Audiogate's idiosyncrasies. It's a kludgy program, but it really does a fantastic job at what it is supposed to do. Don't count on much technical support. Korg is a very strange company in the USA. They eliminate products without warning and stop supporting them pretty much. So, buy this without an expectation of "firmware upgrades" and you won't be disappointed. Not saying Korg won't offer firmware upgrades, because they do. It just may suddenly cease to be updated by Korg, not unlike they way other manufacturers may behave. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME USING THIS DAC WITH OTHER SOFTWARE. Yes, it will work, but it probably won't give you the DSD features the way the Audiogate software will. Most importantly, become familiar with the software. It takes some effort. Many ways to take wrong turns without realizing it. For example, to get excellent playback of upsampled FLAC files, be sure to play the resulting DSD files using the ASIO driver. ASIO bypasses the normal audio path from a user application through layers of intermediary Windows operating system software so that an application connects directly to the sound card hardware. Each layer that is bypassed means a reduction in latency (the delay between an application sending audio information and it being reproduced by the sound card, or input signals from the sound card being available to the application). You need to select it from among the preferences hidden beneath the bit-rate icon in the upper left corner of the screen, next to the menu button. Why is DSD better? Well, it boils down to acoustic preferences. I don't like the fatigue of sharp edges from even the best FLAC files (24 bit/192 Khz). The best DACs make that go away largely. But when excellent FLAC files are upsampled, saved, and played in the DSD format, the pain goes away and I can listen for hours without fatigue. It sounds smoother and not irritating. Or, another way of saying it: it sounds more like analog. There are endless debates about this. No, actually, there are disputes. The camps are entrenched and volleys are being exchanged. Don't get caught up in all that. Just check it out for yourself. I concede that Hirez FLAC files played through an excellent PCM-based DAC sound excellent. In some cases I hear sharper detail in the PCM playback. I can, and have, lived with that. But, DSD is something different. I still hear the details, but not as sharply. Hence, I like to listen to it more. It feels better. That simple. So, in sum, I think this is a fabulous product at this price point. It should tide over any serious audiophile until the DAC market stabilizes and the higher-end features are available at the lower end of prices. That trend is occurring now but it will be a few years before the juice all flows downstream. In the meantime, this DAC let's you upscale your music collection to DSD format and lets you hear what DSD can sound like at it's best. Also, it will let you take full advantage of the many portable players that are beginning to support the DSD format. To my knowledge none of them have a software solution for converting your current music to the DSD format like this.
