I'm new to watercolor and learned that there is a greater range of colors to be mixed from CMY (cyan, magenta and yellow) than from regular red, blue and yellow, so I purchased this tube as it's listed as Magenta - Primary Red (I also bought its sister, Cyan - Primary Blue). Both colors are transparent, flow nicely, and play well with others. This brand is less expensive than others.
