I like that this is easy to put together. It is more convenient and efficient than using a string trimmer. It is great for small areas and minor upkeep. So far it is doing very well and is good quality.

This edger works, but not as well as I was hoping. It is made of hollow metal tubes that screw together--I have several brooms and other yard tools that are the same and they're really great to combine if you ever need something REALLY long, like to pull something out of a tree. What I wanted was something that could provide me a very neat edge where my grass meets the sidewalk without pulling out the weed whacker each time. I previously had an electric one but it damaged a few sprinklers and I became so paranoid about it that I stopped using it. In addition, it was more work to get out and use than a weed whacker. This device will cut grass, but it requires so much elbow grease that it really doesn't save you anything, and the line is not as neat as something done by a machine. I think it would be best for really small yards, like a town house, where you may have limited storage for yard tools.

I typically use my string trimmer to do my edging, but my grass had really gotten overgrown over the sidewalk. So while I could make a straight edge with my trimmer, I really wanted that separation from my sidewalk to the grass with a small gap that you see professional landscaping companies do. I figured this thing would do the trick, but I was pretty disappointed with the poor quality of the materials. The pole itself comes in several parts, and they just screw on to each other with just a few large threads. It's very easy for any of the pieces to start coming unscrewed and moving around. The other issue I have is when edging thicker parts of the lawn. The wheel tends to lock up and stop spinning, and pushing hard has resulted in the pole bending and becoming misshapen. I was able to do a massive edging job all around my yard and re-establish the lines that I wanted, which admittedly involved quite a bit of heavy use. But I'm not sure if this thing can hold up to even a second use. Luckily I can maintain the edges with my string trimmer for now. But I expected more than one use out of this thing.

Very poor quality. The blade is okay and works with a great deal of effort. The stainless-steel pole that attaches to the edger head is hollow and feels very flimsy. You really have to put some force into the head in order to get it to actually cut any grass and it feels like the pole is going to collapse when you put forth that much force. The whole thing is very cheaply made. I was so excited to get this because my parents had one when I was growing up and it was so easy to use and did precision edging. It was also very well made and this is not any of those things and does none of those things. This is just a hard no for me. You need to pass on this one.

I've used weed trimmers for edging for years, but it's always a pain to get it out and then have to wind new line every so often. This manual edger is a whole lot easier to grab quickly, get the job done and put it away. I can do as much or as little as I want without feeling that I need to do more since I have it out already.Oddly, this comes with instructions to assemble it, but no instructions on how to use it. We had to look it up and discover that the wheel should be on the hard surface, such as the concrete. This is the exact opposite of what the phots in the listing show. This is the method that I used and found that it worked okay. While using it seemed that the handle was constantly loosening up and I had to tighten it several time. This was unexpected since I wasn't twisting the handle in either direction but rather was just pushing it in a straight line. This may have to do with how the "threads" are simply shaped into the metal tube and are not a standard thread.I also found that the wheel was turning fairly well at the beginning, but it then seemed to really stiffen up and wouldn't turn well at all. If I held it so that the handle was practically straight up and down, then it would seem to work a little better, but was a bit of an irritant. So, really, it was less than 5 minutes before this symptom exhibited itself. It is fairly quick though. In less than 10 minutes I was able to do both sides of our short driveway as well as the front edge of the lawn. Most of this area didn't require much, but it had been a few weeks since I had last had the weed trimmer out.I'll continue to use this and I'm hoping that it won't simply lock up or fall apart from normal use.
