BOTTOM LINE: Great RAM ball mount to hook extra gear; makes clamps & add-ons fully adjustable for multiple purposes.THOUGHTS: Got this Mechrig 1" RAM style mounting ball to allow me to hook up a cell phone holder on my garden tractor fender. Drilled & tapped a 1/4" hole and tightened it down with a drop of Loctite, to prevent engine/drivetrain vibrations from backing it out. Other RAM-based accessories could also be clamped right on with no issues. Solid aluminum construction and clean, precise threading (1/4" - 20) with no tooling marks, annoying burs or other casting/machining flaws. Nice. Very pleased.

For a project I was working on in my truck I required a 1-inch ball adapter to mount a piece of equipment. During my search I came across this.Here are my thoughts:The adapter arrived quickly and was packaged appropriately for what it is. Come with the adapter in a zipper seal style bag and that’s it.The first thing I noticed was that the threaded portion of the adapter is incredibly short. All the pictures on the description are computer generated, so I was not entirely sure how long it would be.To remedy this, I adjusted the size of a preexisting hole in the Havis dock and utilized a nutsert. I then put red Loctite on the threads and tightened it down.The adapter is solid, it holds like it should and I have zero issues with it moving.Despite it having a short amount of threads, this is quality.I recommend!

This is a great way to add ball mount capability to some of my camera adapters. For instance, I'm attaching a phone mount which uses this 1" ball to a camera rail so I can use the app in conjunction with the camera. I geek out on little gadgets like that, and this is a perfect way to blend the 1/4" ecosystem with the 1" ball ecosystem.It is a little tall, which in my case makes a different, but it seems well made. I wish the stalk was shorter, though...but I suppose some of that is needed to allow for an attached pivot arm to articulate with more range.

This is a solid 1” ball for “RAM” style mounts. Ball and socket mounts are fairly common but 1” size is on the beefier end of these style of mounts. I used the Mechrig 1” ball with the Mechrig’s longest 5.9” double socket arm (and a generic phone / small tablet holder) and can confirm that the ball and arm work well together. As for the ball itself it is really well made. It is beefy and feels like it will hold up to heavy mounting. The 1/4-20 threading is machine well and screws in smoothly into 1/4-20 threaded holes. I also think it is a good value compared to other 1” balls. Would recommend.
