After running DATC self test on center console (which can be initiated by pressing both the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously, letting both go, then pressing AUTO within 2 seconds), I was presented error code 19 46 which is associated with this part. The sensor is accessed from the driver side under the dash towards the center. There are 2 of these sensors on the driver side, the one higher towards the back is the culprit. The panel under the steering wheel needs to be removed along with a black plastic bracket. Took all of 10 minutes to replace and AC worked immediately.

After a year of trial and error, troubleshooting, testing, and replacing various parts in my electronically controlled AC system in my Lincoln LS, this is what finally fixed it. A little 10-20 dollar sensor. Mounted up by the heater core and evaporator and relatively easy to get to, this is all it took for consistent cold air. Sensors go bad, so check them first before just giving up and swapping out expensive AC components or paying a shop thousands in diagnostics and repairs. Trust me I spent a lot less doing it myself than having a specialized AC repair shop take the job. CHECK YOUR SENSORS. Especially if you have an electronically controlled climate system in your car which many newer cars or luxury cars do. It’s ultimately cheaper to replace sensors than compressors, evaporators, condensers, driers, expansion valves or orifices, which are all labor intensive as well.

Fit perfectly on my '02 Jaguar S-Type. If your climate control seems to have a mind of its own, one or more of these sensors could be at fault.
