The most difficult part of installing these hinges was the removal of the factory hinges. I live in Canada and corrosion is a big issue (weather and road-salt). That said, since they mixed aluminum hinges with zinc coated bolts, they might as well welded them on. If you're in the same boat, I will give my multi-step removal process at the end of the review.For starters these aren't cheap; there are less expensive options out there. I guess I hoped for better quality. Don't get me wrong, these are solid hinges, but I'm worried about longevity (hinges and bolts), and not having the tailgate sag. This was a BIG job with the removal and rust repairs, so I want it to last.On arrival, these hinges had a few small chips in the powder coat. I gave them a light sanding and another 2 coats of paint before installation.To install the hinges, push your tailgate onto the hasp and into the opening. Then thread in the hinge-base side bolts loosely, almost snug, but so they can still move (a little). Then do the same with the tailgate bolts. With one hand, lift the tailgate (a little) while still on the hasp and tighten the bolts down with the other hand. You'll find this will allow for smooth open and close. Then tighten the base bolts down. If the gate is a tight at the bottom, have someone else hold the gate up a little while tightening those last bolts. It has to hold that spare so make sure you have a little clearance.I was disappointed with the loud squeak upon fist opening and closing the new hinges. I had to spray the hinge pins with a LOT of silicon before the squeaking stopped (mostly stopped). I will report back later on whether there is any sagging after driving with the spare in place for a while.Price - 8/10Quality - 8/10Installation - 9/10Finally, my factory removal steps:1) I tried my torque driver and snapped off a hardened torx bit, then another one. I was only able to get one out and the torque hardened bit was impossible to drill out.2) I soaked the bolts with as much penetrating oil as I could (repeatedly for several days). In order to get oil between the bolt and hinge, I used a knife to remove paint around the head of the bolt. I also sprayed it on the nut plates for the base of the factory hinges.3) I used a blowtorch to heat the bolts and hinges, then pounded on them with a hammer and punch. I repeated this step quite a few times. spraying with penetrating oil intermittently as well.4) I then heated just the hinge around one of the bolt heads and tried the torque driver again. Again I broke a torx bit.5) I tried drilling. Broke several drill bits. Used a lot of cutting oil. After hours of work, I got one out and then ran out of steam.6) Since I was not going to reuse the hinges, I resorted to my last option. I used zipcut blades in my angle grinder. Working on an angle to cut between the hinge and the bolt-heads, I methodically cut around all the heads. This meant cutting away sections of the hinges so I could get the zipcut in tight and on the right angle. For 2 bolts, this allowed me to extract the bolts whole. For the rest, I had to then cut through the bolts. Once the bolts are cut, the hinge can be removed (with a little persuasion).Finally, I was able to use more penetrating oil on the remaining bolt shafts and vise-grip them out.* Hopefully yours won't be as big a chore.

The old ones were a nightmare to remove. Ended up cutting off and then drilling out the factory bolts.These replacement fit perfectly covering up the factory paint around areas.Love how easy they open and close my tailgate even with my 31x10.5x15 spare tire attached!
