I believed the word on the street, park tool had the best ever bike tools and equipment. So I bought a huge tool kit and lots and lots of equipment for my shop. Man was I disappointed. Life time warranty they say. Bs. Quality tools they say. Bs. Helpful service. Absolutely bs. I gave them the a chance. First, their Allen t handles suck. They seem like soft crappy Steele to me. Tried to do a warranty claim, denied. Said I was using the tools wrong. I bought ICON brand t handles at harbor freight and they have out performed and still have not given me any trouble. Plus, when they say life time warranty, it’s a simple swap. No bs. In fact, every tool I got from park tool, I got a similar tool from icon and icon is vastly better. My park tool brand crank tool tip snapped off. My cheap Amazon crank tool, still going strong and I use it daily. many park tools I get/got has broken or can’t perform. I’m a professional bike mechanic in the biz for 10+ years. Please don’t lecture me about “doing it wrong”. Why is it icon tools can do tasks park tools brand struggle to do. They said park tools are great for bike shops and daily use. Bs. I’m so disgusted when a park took breaks in my hands while an icon brand just does the job without drama.This bike stand, said it can hold 120 max Pounds. I got two. Within a few months, the bike stand struggled to hold the bike in the position I set. If I apply pressure to the bike, the bike will nose down or rear down. I’ll have to apply more pressure on the handle to secure it. Really disappointed. They are so expensive and yet I feel like a rack ok third of the price can do this.Park tool, maybe you were the best. The tools look good on display but that’s about what they are good for. These park tools just don’t have what it takes to handle daily life at a bike shop. When a warranty claim is asserted, they wiggle out of the claim by saying I use it wrong… even though I do use it only for what they are intended for. I baby my tools. I get on my employees if I see them misuse a tool. Don’t put it back where it goes. Etc. Tools are more than useful, they are how people make a living. Protecting and caring for tools when you’re a mechanic is like a doctor protecting his license to practice medicine… it’s the tools needed to make a living so don’t assume I’m just a bloke using my tools wrong or on tasks not meant for any given tool.Also on these two stands I got, the rubber in the clamp piece falls off constantly and refuses to stay put.I spent thousands on park tools. Never again. I’ll use these park tools for display so I can look trendy and cool. I’ll keep my working tools in my tool box because I know, based on actual experience, park tool looks good on display and that’s all.I feel cheated. Especially when they denied my warranty claim when the tool legit broke on a simple task.
