But this ball worked worse than original one on my Slimblade Pro. I gave her couple of weeks to bead in and grease from hands. It's noisy and I can't fine control small movements (2D CAD work). I had to return it.

Excellent replacement for the Slimblade ball that developed some issue and was not smooth anymore for me.

This ball is better than the original from Kensington. I do not know why but is smoother.

I bought this keyboard as a backup keyboard when I'm sitting in a recliner. My normal setup is a Kensington SlimBlade trackball and a top-shelf mechanical keyboard. This is a great replacement, especially when I'm traveling but still want a full keyboard/trackball. The trackball itself is trapped in the keyboard (you can push it out with some pressure for cleaning), which is really nice so it doesn't go bouncing across the room! The keyboard has a bit of an unusual layout, because it's narrower than other 101 key keyboards. Some things are in weird places, particularly the Home/Delete/etc keys, but that also brings in the trackball to be close to the (normal layout) numeric keypad. Overall, it took me just a few hours to get used to this layout, and I'm very picky about things like that. (I got the US version with the pipe/backslash keyboard over the Enter key, where it belongs!) The Delete key is in a strange place, compared to most laptop keyboards, but at least I won't accidentally hit it.The keys themselves have a nice travel and click, but not overly obnoxious or even loud like an IBM Model M keyboard. They're probably about the same volume as Cherry Brown switches, but not quite as satisfying to press. However, I can type pretty quickly with this keyboard and the keys are nicely shaped, except that the keys are pretty smooth and not quite enough texture (so your fingers slightly slip, but if that bothers you you can add grip stickers). Note that these keys are basically about the same as nearly all mid-range keyboards sold on Amazon, and even some high-end ones, so that's really not too bad.The cable is great - long, fabric covered, and with two sturdy looking plugs. I would have preferred to see a bit more strain relief at the keyboard end, because it arrives bent into the box and I don't want it to get damaged, but it's really a very nice cable. The entire keyboard is plastic-covered, which I prefer because it won't bother me if I'm wearing shorts and metal doesn't really add anything here (the keyboard is very stiff and doesn't flex even when I bang very hard.) If plastic-covered was good enough for the IBM Model M, it's good enough for anything.Given how extremely unusual it is to even find a keyboard with a built-in trackball (let alone such a great trackball -- it's very good, even if it's not quite as good as a Kensington Slim Blade which costs about as much as this keyboard by itself, or my Das Keyboard which also cost as much as this keyboard!) and given the quality of the keyboard itself and the great price, I'm definitely giving this my highest recommendation. Once I got used to the layout and realized that I might even be MORE productive with this slightly compressed layout, I might even ditch my other fancier equipment. If this is Perixx's first try at a trackball-keyboard combo, it's a stunning debut... I'm a huge fan!

I recently bought a Kensington SlimBlade trackball mouse and having done my research I knew that Kensington refuse to supply replacement trackballs when they get damaged (at least here in UK), forcing you to buy a whole new mouse. I also knew that the Peripro-304 was the only replacement on the market that fits, but they've been out of stock for quite a long time (presumably due to Covid, etc).Anyway, one day I randomly decided to check if they'd come back in stock and sure enough Amazon had 8 them. I ordered one straight away and a few days later it was in the UK and in my hands. I tried it out and it works just as well as the OEM item, it not better. It's not quite as attractive as the original ball as it doesn't have that same metallic effect in the paint, but honestly it's a very subtle difference (and really, who cares?!).My Peripro-304 is now safely stashed away in the cupboard, waiting for the inevitable time when either myself, or more likely my kids, drop the OEM ball and scratch it, rendering it useless! So overall this item comes highly recommended, and if you have the spare cash I'd recommend picking one up BEFORE you need it. After all, if you use your mouse for work (as I do), even waiting a day or two for a replacement might be really inconvenient, and that's obviously assuming that they haven't sold out again!TIP: Before using it, make sure you clean both the ball and the socket on the mouse until they are completely free of dirt and dust. Then spend 30 seconds lubricating the ball by rolling it against your face and between the palms of your hands, allowing it to pick up a light coating of your natural skin oils. After doing that you should find the ball operates nice and smoothly. Repeat this process at least monthly to keep your trackball working optimally. This tip obviously applies to the OEM ball as well.

The lighted version has full individual key RGB lighting! It has 6 different lighting modes including a very catchy raindrop mode where each key lights in a random colour then slowly fades (about 1/2 the keys lit with different colours at any time). It also has solid light modes of different colours you can choose, and a breathing mode where a wave of colour moves across the keyboard. Finally, it has a mode where random colours emanate from each key you press and flow throughout the rest of the keyboard! Very fun to watch. The keys are true mechanical keys, smooth (no click as you press them), but of course noisy as you type and each key hits the bottom of its travel. Very comfortable though. And enjoyable to press, you feel like you're pressing something of value and luxury with every keystroke. (This is my first true mechanical keyboard.) The trackball is amazing, full size trackball, what more can you say? Beautiful red colour, smooth texture, and smooth feel to rotate. Two DPI settings (Fn+F9), modern normal fast and very fast. The wheel is notched and tilts, and the mouse buttons have a good click to them. The layout of the Ins/Del/Home/PgUp/PgDn/End is quite logical I think. You use Fn+ Ins/Del/Home/PgUp/PgDn/End to change the light modes, although this is not labeled on the keys unfortunately. Fn+F12 for colour selection, and Fn+F11 for brightness (4 steps). Max brightness is sufficient for a reasonably lit bedroom, but it's not super bright. Fn+Arrow Keys adjusts the direction of the breathing pattern too.The keyboard is a little thicker than usual probably to make space for the thickness of the trackball, but it's nothing major. There is one little quirk with the trackball, though, and it's that it seems to have a sleep mode. If you don't touch it for a minute, it takes about a third of a second to wake up when you touch it next time so the first bit of movement is lost. Seems completely unnecessary for a wired product. The overall feel and weight of the product is very good. The lights turn off when the computer sleeps, and when it wakes up the previous lighting mode continues. However, when you switch lighting modes on the keyboard (eg. away from solid colour to another mode, and then back to solid colour), the solid colour you had chosen is not remembered. (It defaults back to red.)Wish list for me would include duplicate mouse buttons on the left side/edge of the keyboard, so that I can click with my left fingers while my right hand is on the trackball, without having to lift/move my fingers off of it to click the buttons below. Back and forward buttons on the left and right side of the trackball respectively. And maybe even duplicate mouse left and right buttons above the trackball, for maximum flexibility of which fingers to click with (you pretty much always have to use your thumb to click the buttons below it I find). Having duplicate mouse buttons 1 & 2 (left and right) on the left side/edge of the keyboard would also help in being able to make precise, extended movements of the ball while holding and releasing the buttons at the precise moment, eg. when photo editing or selecting files. The trackball is amazing. Why not have a whole trackball in the same space as an standard keyboard? Great for using the keyboard on your lap and having everything in one place and in one unit.

I was having issues with increased static friction and need to clean bearings on Kensington SlimBlade multiple times a day.Now with Perixx ball it moves smooth and i only clean the socket ones a week ant that's probably overkill. It's a deeper red and it is a bit heavier but it feels so smooth. Practically no difference between static and dynamic friction. Well worth the upgrade!
