It is made of a thinner vinyl. It is not a stiff vinyl, but actually kind of a thinner flimsy vinyl. I don’t mean that in a bad way because I prefer it not to be stiff so that you’re able to fit a larger bag in it. It has a larger opening at the top for the straps to go through. If you have your entire bag out in the rain, the rain can get in through the hole where the straps go through. When using this, I will have it under my coat so that the straps do not get wet but when my bag, especially a Crossbody bag is hanging lower on me. It will be protected by this bag cover. It has nice piping around the edges and around the opening for the handles. I showed it with two of my bags and it fit nicely over each one. The first bag though has wider straps and I don’t know if I would use that on that bag if it was not Crossbody bag. I say that because it would be hard to get the bag over my shoulder with that bag on. That one can be changed to a Crossbody bag so it would work fine with this cover. I think the hole for the straps would work better. If you had a bag that had handles that were in the middle of the bag such as a bag that you would put over your arm instead of a bag that has straps on the sides as mine do. But it’s usable either way.

This is one of those nice to have items you never knew you needed until you find yourself in a spot and it becomes a lifesaver. Having been caught out in the rain many times previously and had to tuck a large open tote or a nice handbag under my coat or wrapped in a carrier bag to avoid getting wet, this is now a handy item to keep in the handbag, just in case.This nifty cover is a good larger size which will easily place over a medium to large size open top bag up to approx 40cm wide and 30cm tall which is around the size of a mulberry bayswater or LV MM neverfull as a couple of examples. Due to the slot on the top, this cover is best suited to bags with a top handle or top shoulder straps.A bit overpriced for what it is at £12.99 (at the time of review) but if it saves your bag from heavy rain now and again then it is worth it.

This handbag protector is a great idea. It’s fairly large, so it works well with large purses. I believe it would also work for tote bags. The plastic is heavy enough to provide protection from the elements, and the edges seem to be well-sewn. I look forward to using this unique item to keep my fabric purses dry on rainy days.

This protective handbag cover arrived in clear plastic packaging. It is a clear plastic PVC cover which fits over your handbag when it is raining, and prevents your handbag from getting wet. The cover is thin but strong, and it is lightweight, plus it can be folded for storage inside your handbag. It measures approximately 16.5 inches long by 13 inches high. The cover is completely clear apart from the black fabric edging. It feels good quality and strong, and provides protection against the rain on all sides of your handbag. There is a gap at the top to put the handles or shoulder strap of your handbag through. Obviously depending on the design of your handbag, if the handles or shoulder strap are fitted to the ends of your handbag, it may be more difficult for them to go through the centre gap of the rain cover. Once the cover is on your handbag, there is no way of getting inside your handbag unless you take the whole cover off. It is certainly a good way of protecting your handbag from the rain, and preventing the contents from getting wet. Recommended.
