First off, this lift is perfectly capable of doing it's job. It lifts the bike out of the way and ties off on a wall cleat until you need the bike back. That's what I was looking for, and it delivered. My only reason for subtracting a star is that it's a little difficult to install on your own. I've seen other systems that use a single center rail for the ceiling mount and those give you a lot more anchor options for ceiling joists. With the two piece design you receive a much smaller package (better for the environment) but you will need to do a lot more measuring to get things to work perfectly. In addition, since there are many seperate parts, I found that I needed a second person to hand me things while I was working on hanging the lift. I could have done it alone, but it would have taken much longer.

The main thing for me was choosing the location where to mount this bike hanger. Has to be near a wall, for the chord-securing piece to be mounted on. I had to reshuffle a bit things in the garage, but ended up with a bit more floor space now that one bike is up in the air. The system is sturdy enough for my bike, the problem is the sturdiness of the ceiling anchoring. Added a wood board on the ceiling just for this, hope it’s worth the trouble in the long run.It is great that the whole system is self-leveling, it naturally stays in balance. The hooks are padded with some rubbery coating, no scratching on the bike and also no slipping off the hook. The cord seems adequate, but I guess this is the first thing that may give in, need to keep an eye on its’ condition over time. In the end, the system looks pretty stable, we’ll see.

I ordered the “Pro-Bike Tool Bike Ceiling Mount Pulley Storage System - Bike Hangers for Garage Storage - Bike Hoist Wall Rack Indoor Roof Pulleys - Heavy Duty Overhead Space Saving Bicycle Lift System - 1.65 kg” to review and to gain some additional space in my garage by hanging my bike. I have 10 foot ceilings so just hanging it on hooks is out of the question. I like the pulley system once mounted but the included mounting hardware is certainly not adequate as provided. I instead chose to use four 2x4s to span between two ceiling joists and screwed them through the sheetrock into the joists using four 4-inch screws each and then was able to use the 12 provided screws plus 4 additional screws using 16 of the 20 screw holes (8 of 10 per bracket) to mount the brackets to the 2x4 pieces. I would consider some aftermarket, higher-end sheetrock togglers or anchors if needed but they could fail if the sheetrock ever got wet I guess. These aren’t going anywhere. I like how it’s holding so far and do not foresee any problems with the system. I consider this system to be average to above average and is at least what you would expect based on the Product Page, maybe a bit more. It is absolutely a solid product which I recommend.Explaining my rating system:5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Exceeded Expectations – Highly recommend product.4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️– Average to Above Average – At least what you would expect based on the Product Page. Maybe a bit more. A solid product. Recommended.3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️– Average to Below Average – A bit less than what you would expect based on the Product Page. Left feeling somewhat disappointed. Maybe you’ll feel differently but I cannot fully stand behind the product.2 stars ⭐️⭐️– Below Average – Incorrect, missing, or misleading information on the product page. Low quality or questionable safety issues. Not recommended.1 star ⭐️– Junk – A complete misrepresentation of the product advertised, severe quality or safety issues. Avoid at all costs.

I had 3 of these types of units in a prior home I owned. There is a simple lesson that I learned - where/how you anchor these types of things matter. This kit comes with 2" wood screws. Anchor them INTO WOOD. It also has drywall anchors. Don't rely on drywall and anchors to hold up your bike. Especially don't mount the lift over something that might get scratched (vehicle?) if the anchors pull out of the drywall. Because the anchors will pull out, it's simply a matter of when. The kit comes with 1 page of instructions which outlines the install process and operation of it. This is sufficient because there isn't much to installing or using it. The 'trick' to using one of these is making sure you have enough ceiling height to lift the bike up and not interfere with typical walking/vehicle traffic in the area. There are holes to mount the pully mounting plates along the sides and center of the plate. This should allow for it to be mounted securely INTO WOOD. (or a mounting board that is mounted into wood). The rope is secured to one pully and then strung through the lifting points before it emerges into the part you pull to raise/lower the bike. A cleat is provided to wrap the extra rope around although I tended to loop/hang it from a pedal as I was a distance from a wall. These are handy to use and a nice way to free up some floor/wall space in a storage place. 5 stars
