Hopefully this helps other Ford owners. I could hear what sounded like metal on metal in my front driver's side. After taking my truck to the garage, they diagnosed the issue was a wheel bearing. They changed the wheel bearing ($750 later) and the noise still persisted. After investigation, I found that it is common in Ford trucks with 4X4 for the vacuum that engages/disengages 4WD to have issues. Long story short, I bought these parts after watching some videos online and changed them out myself (minimal tools needed) and the issue seems to be resolved.

After installation the valve worked for a few days and then started working intermittently.I guess working some of the time is better than not working at all, but I have a feeling it won’t be working at all soon enough.
