This is good. I'm glad i got it... You absolutely need the chime if you plan on being home during the day. Without it you can't hear the doorbell internally.The chime was a nightmare to set up. It kept switching connection from the home wifi to the doorbell wifi... Which are the same thing but every time it switched the connection would drop and it wouldn't work... Finally got it going solid but it took a couple hours of faffing around for what should be a 5 minute process.My main reason for buying this was to have something that could act as a security camera and for that outpose it's great. You need to tweak the settings otherwise you get notified someone walks a dog anywhere near your house and that gets annoying... But those notifications can be switched off.Also be aware that after a short free trial you do need to pay a subscription in order to keep features such as video recording which I did not realise and may have influenced me not to buy one had I known this.Overall though it's good. Easy to mount. Decent range of view and for my purposes it's great... I have a home office in the garage and often miss deliveries due to not hearing the doorbell so this gives me notifications when the bell is rang and ensures I don't miss anything... and having the camera makes me more comfortable to know there's a deterrent in place.

I bought this to replace an earlier Ring Doorbell that had finally given up after about 6 years (lens assembly de-laminated). WOW the picture quality difference is huge, and I have been pleasantly surprised about the battery life which seems to be much better even though the specs are higher ( I guess the internals have been updated since my older version to be more efficient). I was delighted that I could use the same drill holes as my previous doorbell, so literally took minutes to install. The wide vertical field of view is great , especially as delivery drivers don’t seem to wait these days for any sign that anyone is home to accept parcels and just leave them on the doorstep in all weathers for anyone to help themselves to! Another story altogether. The definition day and night is great, and when I do use the two way talk , the person at the other end seems to be able to hear me clearly. If I had the inclination and knew a good electrician , I would probably go to a wired version to save the charging but having a previous doorbell gave me a spare battery which thankfully works across generations (nice move Ring for reducing battery waste) .

Motion sensor are very ropey I have a long path leading up to my door and people are knocking at the door before I get the alert, I thought the point was to alert me before they knock I will give it a few days to settle and hopefully things will fall into place.Now for the WiFi I use a Samsung S23 ultra I can sit in my neighbours house a good 15 to 20 meters away and still get a strong signal on my WiFi at home to my phone, the door bell is approximately 4 meters from my modem and gets a lousy signal so I invested 49.99 into a chime pro 2 and guess what it made no difference whatsoever boost WiFi signal my arse ring must use the poorest WiFi receivers they can get there hands on the quality of the videos are quite good and bright but the frame rate is rank unable to make out the number plate of my car that is parked across the road say 15 meters so far ring is not doing it for me like I say a few more days if it don't settle then back it goes. Ding bloody Dong
