I find it takes a bit of practice to get this thing to work the way I wanted to. You need to use the right amount of pressure when you are squeezing down on the stem; too much pressure and it cuts the stem, rather than cutting off the thorns; too little pressure and it doesn't actually work. But once I figured out the right amount of pressure it worked great. So you might mess up the first couple of rows stems until you get the hang of it.also, out of curiosity, I decided to try it on a few other thorny plants, such as a blackberry bush. It didn't work well for that at all; the thorns are just too big and sturdy, to the point that pressing down the tool and pulling what either not work at all or would just rip the stem. But again, that's not what it was made for. As I said, it works fine for rose stems.

It takes some practice to use this tool effectively on rose stems. You need to apply the right amount of pressure to avoid cutting the stem or failing to remove thorns. Once you get the hang of it, the tool works well. However, it's not suitable for thicker, sturdier thorns like those found on blackberry bushes.
